    Non-shiney diver

I recently released a damasko, one of the main things I liked about it was the dullness of the metal. It was a lovely subdued matte finish. Alas it was a bit too small for my tastes, but I hope it's new owner is enjoying it. I'm not keen on the larger Damaskos, and would like a little step up and a diver this time. I'm really not into high shine polished watches for some reason.
Titanium seems like the logical search term, and the Pelagos is currently the forerunner. A lot of people say that the Breathing avenger seawolf is the daddy of Ti divers, but I'm not overly taken with it. It looks a bit tubby!
Before I go out and grab a Pelagos, I just wanted to make sure that there are no other obvious contenders I'm missing. Brushed steel options maybe?
I'd like a bit more of a mainstream brand, and happy to pay up to £4K-ish.
    Any help appreciated.
    Thanks.

I think you've already got the right idea with the Pelagos TBH.

I've always been a fan of the Tutima titanium divers.

That Tutima is a handsome watch indeed.
The IW353601 is probably my ideal, but they go for crazy money.

Pelagos or Sinn U1 (or variants there of... U2, UX etc)? Both great watches, I have both but would say the Pelagos edges it; but it should for the cost premium.

Can't go wrong with the pelagos - a modern classic.

Did I not read somewhere that grand seiko produced a titanium polished diver recently?

Another Muhle, 300m w/r & GMT complication as well. Nice 'dull' brushed finish.

It would be the Tudor Pelagos for me. It was a choice between that and the planet ocean for my 40th..... The planet ocean won that race.

I like that squale very much, and at that price it could be in addition to the pelagos in due course.

I really would say after nearly buying a SD and then going for one, the Pelagos, literally knocks all competitors into a cocked hat!

Surprised there's no mention of the Ti IWC Aquatimer (3538) yet...

(not my watch, not my pic)

I have a Muhle Glashutte Marinus GMT which is a very lovely watch, a true diver and lovely matte finish :-)

I love the Squale but if the pelagos is affordable for OP then it can't match up to that IMO.

Nothing at all shiney about the Pelagos, plus you get a nice adjustable clasp on the bracelet.

Some absolute crackers in this thread, I'm glad I started it!
I think the Pelagos will be the one, but I will keep an eye open for a squale in case I can get both!

I've got a Muhle Glashutte Seebataillon, as mentioned earlier in this thread, going cheap if you want to try one.

Its a cool looking watch but it's pretty big at 44mm and it's a pilot watch not a diver.

EDIt: which is fine if its the aesthetics of a bezel you want rather than the function.

Have you looked at any of the Luminox or Marathon range?

Quite a bit under budget but Certina do a titanium diver with a grey face and bezel .

Another titanium option from Mido which has a nice Matt textured face.

The movement on this is interesting too with an 80hr power reserve.

Mido never really gets much of a mention, on here or in the UK generally.

I have a Commander chronograph by them and I was bowled over by the quality for the price I paid on SC.
