Muhle Glashutte seebataillon. I love it's looks. Just wondered if any TZers own one and if so what's life like with one?

I've thought about buying one of these a few times. Great looks and very light, (I tried one one).
There is a member here (Stefan-something or other!) who had one for sale for ages.

I looked at one out in Germany, and my lasting impression was that it was massive.

Decent quality and some design features (I like the open GMT hand), but make sure you have the wrist for it.

I'm pretty sure watchshop in Reading used to have one in stock. Might be worth checking if you aren't far from there?

I'm up in Scotland but I'm thinking the lug to lug might kill it for me - the old old WIS statement of "oh if only it was 2mm smaller" ☹️

They had an event with the chief exec, Thilo Muhle, a couple of weeks ago. Really nice guy. Jake, in Jura, is a big fan of the brand, so you will have a good time trying it on. Thilo also said that factory tours are available any time, just give them a day or two notice.

That's good to know, thanks ged.

Reading the various threads on this forum has opened my eyes to look outside of the "normal" high street offering and find some great pieces, I suspect this is another good find.

Nah but the wrist shot gives me an idea of scale - at 6.7" wrists I doubt I could pull off the seebataillon- it's 45mm it seems

I really love the design, except for the numbers on the bezel going in the opposite direction to every other diver style watch I've seen. What's that about?

This is intended to count down to your tank empty time.

Other dive watches require you to recall your max dive time during the dive.

To me, this is the optimal bezel as the tank time is set at the start of the dive.

When you get close to zero it's time to surface.

I think the roots of bidirectional countdown bezels are in pilot watches eg

Most the times I notice one, it's on a German watch

how's that going to work then.

Surely it is better to look at your guage on the tank? Every diver differs in the rate at which they consume air.

Its probably safe to assume that W124 mostly dives desks.

The clue is the name of the watch: Seebataillon - its for naval infantry, not for divers.

Not a fan of "divers" -- except the real thing:

so it's good that this is an infantry watch

However, it's attractive, it's blue (best colour IMHO), and, pretty much anything from the village of Glashütte floats my boat (no pun intended).
