Or even just a photo of a diving watch on leather, especially a rally strap. Or anything on a leather NATO.
I was thinking this part of the forum is a little neglected in the day to day posts. So a little game just for the fun if it.
I would like you to put up pictures of either a cheap watch on an expensive strap or an expensive watch on a cheap strap, simple as that.
To give you all an incentive to play I'll pick two people to receive a watch strap of my choosing to fit one of their watches (bespoke brand fittings not included)
Here is two to get you started,
Explorer II on Orange bull leather
Amphibia on cherry red alligator
Or even just a photo of a diving watch on leather, especially a rally strap. Or anything on a leather NATO.
"A man of little significance"
I really like the Amphibia on the cherry leather!!
Seiko 7000-8000: £24 from eBay
Iyonk Strap, handmade to very exact specifications* by an absolute artist in Indonesia: a lot more than the watch
*one specification was: use leather sufficiently worn that it won't embarrass the poor old watch it's going on. Another was that it had to fit into lugs so tight that normal straps got gouged by the edge of the case
How about a Rolex Oyster on a £5 Timefactors canvas:
Or a UG Uni-Compax on a Cousins £4.50 rallye
There are some that would call an Amphibia on a NATO antithetical but perhaps CCCP models only really qualify.
I'm not quite sure why I took these for the Friday thread but I don't imagine they qualify.
Understood, but the look is actually spectacular.
It was part of Soviet military policy to be able to make use of captured NATO supplies, so it may not be all that antithematic. I prefer to think of it as détente in action, like this:
That Universal looks smart Carlton, and the green nato appears to match your jumper
MB2 on about 3 quid of rubber strap. I suspect some around this manor might consider that an upgrade but I won't be drawn on that topic :-D
Before Damasko released their bracelet I took matters into my own hands . . .
F.T.F.A.
Ah, I stand corrected, the image made it appear so. Nevertheless a solid combination.
Never heard of that strap though so there's half an hour of passing interest you've afforded me while I go and look. Ta
edit - Nageur-De-Combat, apparently
Someone beat me to the explorer on Eddie canvas trope (works so well) but how's about this ...
.. Blancpain 7002 on eulit perlon ..
Al
Vintage Favre Leuba on 2 piece zulu with non-matching hardware.
Not convinced this is inappropriate, more fabulous really, but anyway...
SD16600 on Time Factors olive canvas, somewhere over the Pacific...
Not mine, but I saw this one on today's Friday thread:
Congratulations to Carlton-Browne and learningtofly.
There is a mystery strap on it's way to each of you
Indeed. Many thanks for Berlin.
A little late to the party, but this is my speedmaster reduced on a cheap nato printed with flamingos!
And here is the NATO in all its glory:
The eagle has landed.
It's a strap from a German maker called Kaufmann; I know that animalone is a fan of these and, whilst I had an inkling before about them, the quality of this one is really superb. Why Kaufmann don't have the same forum exposure as the likes of Hirsch, ABP or Camille Fournet I'll never know but it's definitely one to look out for. I am pleased (and perhaps not so pleased) to learn there is a stockist in Berlin approximately 10 minutes walk away from where we live.

That UG is gorgeous.
