Oh for a crystal ball...
It's even got the proper 18mm NATO too!

Is that a Sea Dweller on the right? I thought this was the first one with cyclops?
Very conservative reserves in those days!
Very interesting indeed.
I think it shows just how vulnerable the high-end vintage market is to a correction. I wonder how those prices (assuming they went reasonably close to reserve prices) compared to a brand new Sub/SD etc. at the time.
They were hard to come by too so trading at above list price.

And a gloss dial 666 for twice the price!!!
I'll take three please!
I would have taken all three but without the diver's ISO certification I will need to pass.
Will the bubble burst? I really don't think it will, the prices keep climbing.
Pretty significant increase in price on vintage pieces. Back in the 80s and 90s old rolexes were not worth much at all, The vintage market really has taken off. I guess if someone had been in the market for a Rolex back then a vintage one wouldn't have been something that many would have considered. I guess the question is will vintage continue to do well or if there's a bubble and that is a question only time will answer. Not that it affects me personally as I don't own any or can justify the cost :-)
