A lovely looking watch and good write up - thank you. The date window detail is particularly interesting - I'm surprised it's not more common.

For the keen eyed amongst you, this new arrival will look remarkably familiar….I bought the same model about 18 months ago without the Gay Frères steel bracelet! Another mint NOS example of a mid 70ies diver from Longines, the Conquest 8594-1. I will not bore you regurgitating the details from the previous post, just a few salient points.
The slim barrel shape is approximately 41mm wide excluding the signed crowns (the lower one is the winding crown, the Longines signed upper crown moves the internal bezel). My first one of these has the lower crown with crosshatching. No quick set date. Cal 431 (not taken the back off yet to record the movement…..but it does whizz at 36000 bph. The Gay Frères steel bracelet is really nice, I hesitate to name it ‘ladder’ (synonymous with vintage Zenith), but it has similar style with open links. There is a neat diver’s extension too, along with micro adjustment along the folding clasp.
Lug to lug it measures about the same again – 40-41mm. Screw in back.
The trapezoidal date window is rather fab (imho), but what really caught my eye was the fact that on the date wheel, two figure dates fill the date window, a shorter inner number and an elongated outer numeral…lovely touch. Nice cream hour plots at 12, 3, 6 and 9, with white plots between. Really cracking applied logos on the dial and I like the italicised script. Handset is slightly different to the first version I bought in the placement of the tritium.
So, now for some pics, and a gentle reminder if you really like this….well don’t forget there is one on SC!!!

The bracelet looks very nice and a NOS one is a excellent find. What's the back story to the NOS? I'm trying hard not to look into vintage Longines too much so posts like this are great but not that helpful!

Wonderful.
Nice companion for your other one 👍👍
That really is beautiful! If it hadn't have been for the ST I would have been very tempted by the one in SC. It must be said that bracelet just takes it to the next level though.
This is a really interesting post and a beautiful watch. Congratulations and thanks for sharing.
A refreshing change from all the Rolex posts (and yes, I too am guilty on that charge).
