    Buying a new camera - Canon 6D

I've been doing a bit of research and I'm thinking of buying a 6D. They are under £900 new from eBay, is there anything I need to watch out for? I understand the warranty may not be valid but at that price I think it may be worth the risk.

Also, the 6D has received decent reviews, I will mainly be using it for portraits and landscapes.

£929 for the weekend, good company to deal with and 3 year warranty.
No affiliation, but thats where I got mine.

As for the camera very happy with it, the only issue I had with it is the lazy git behind it (ME), threaten to take lots of photos, but never seems to happen.

The camera is the cheap bit! For FF body you'll want to get decent glass (lenses) which are usually bigger / more expensive than smaller format. Or do you already have some Canon kit?

it is similar to watches - so be warned!

Do you already have appropriate portraiture and landscape lenses or are you budgeting for them too? Sigma's art lenses seem to be challenging Canon's top lenses recently.

I would like a 5d or 6d some day but concluded at the minute it makes more sense to me to hold on to my 600d and buy another lens, a 70-200 f4 is L telephoto probably in my case.

It's just been updated so there will probably be discounts coming from Canon soon. Also if you buy from them you'll get two years warranty. Be careful with eBay sellers unless it's one of the established used dealers as it maybe a grey import. If you do go grey check their terms thoroughly. They may offer long warranties, but who is doing the repairs and where are they based? (Think Creation Watches)
A few examples from recognised used sellers here:
LCE have got them used for £899 with 6 months warranty: https://www.lcegroup.co.uk/Secondhan...on=&Results=12
    MPB from £719 with 6 months warranty : https://www.mpb.com/en-uk/search/?ww...department=all
And Camera Jungle (Jessops) from £750 with 1 year warranty: http://www.camerajungle.co.uk/produc...mera-body-only

For your budget you'll get some with box and accessories with less than 20,000 actuations from any of the above.

I bought a new 80D and 70-200 f2.8L from them. Delivery was very quick. I decided on Panamoz after reading good stuff about them on Pistonheads.

@rodder - out of interest, what made you decide on the 6D?

Each to their own, I guess, but I don't get this "grey bit" at all.

Why anyone would want to pay £929 for a secondhand camera with 35,000 actuations
    and 6 months warranty.

or give 99 pence less for a brand spanking shiny new one in the box with 3 year warranty from companies like Panamoz or Hdw who seem to have excellent feedback.

As mentioned it's the glass (lenes) that make this hobby an expensive one!

It's all relative to your usage. If you don't use your camera very much you can probably be without it and send it back to the grey dealer to be repaired.
If you buy it from Canon or a dealer-chain you can take it back to the local store, you'll probably get a faster repair and you may get a loan camera too.
I prefer dealing with someone in person or who can see the items I'm buying. I've just picked up a mint 7D with only 1700 actuations from LCE for less than eBay price.
I was able to haggle a good deal and it arrived next day with free delivery. I would suggest anyone looking for a 6D could do the same with the new model now being promoted.

Depends on your risk factor too. I have a friend who is semi pro and has bought nearly all his gear including a 5D mk iv, a 1DX and some massive lenses from one of the grey importers, and has never had a problem - he always uses the same company. Another friend bought from a grey importer (actually I don't think he knew it was an import, sometimes it's hard to tell), didn't get the camera, and after a lot of stress ended up with a second or return in a scruffy box with half the bits missing. He got his money back via the credit card but it took months.
