    Seamaster Help!

    Hi All,

I'm about to go ahead with the purchase of Seamaster, one that I've been after for a while.

Before I pull the trigger on it, I was wondering if any of you kind folks could take a quick look at some pics to put my mind at at rest that it's not a fake. I've done my research and to me it looks legit to me, but would prefer a 2nd opinion!

    Here it is:

    Thanks in advance guys!

Can you post a dial shot, not sure if it's the first image but all I can see is a broken image.

Looks fine. Quartz 2264 (i.e. full size SMP) in decent nick, looks a bit grubby by the lugs in the rear shot but that isn't a big deal. Serial puts manufacture at around 2000 give or take a year.

Thanks for the confirmation guys..... always good to get a 2nd opinion.

It's going to be interesting to see how it fits in with my current collection and how much wrist time it gets!

I'm quite excited about picking it up tomorrow as I nearly bought one about 8 years ago but opted for a Tag instead

make sure the bezel (and insert) are in good condition.

polishing will make it rounded. a replacement costs big bucks.

True, to be clear though polishing (or lack of) really only applies to the scalloped edge, you can't polish the insert on those, it is anodised. You can on the shiny insert ones like on the 2255 but on a 2254/64 or 2531/41 it needs to be mint or else replacement is the only choice. The one in the pics above looks fine to me and the scalloping doesn't look to have been polished away. Replacement is £300-350 via the aftermarket, ~£200 on top when taken as part of a service with Omega or STS.

I've got the blue version and love it.

Independent hour hand is very useful for holidays when changing time zones too.
