Tokyo once for a Grand Seiko. 12 hour flight, met chap at Narita Airport, got same BA plane back 4 hours later! Did Beirut for a GMTIIc when they first came out and were rare. Did Zurich for another Grand Seiko and also Innsbruck for a Rolex (think it was a Milgauss).

    I'm impressed.

    What was the reasoning/financial incentive?

Blimey. That is probably more dangerous and remote than the lad who posted the Rolex Baghdad shop.

Como, Italy in 2011 to pick up this (1964 105.003 'Ed White' with box but no papers):

I paid £3,200 for it then. Worth somewhat more now.

Thanks, what a great story and great to know the history of the clock.

Was an SBGE001. I had a ton of Avios points so did it on BA Club World so it was kind of like a day out really :) Plus I enjoy flying anyway.

One time I had to go to my local sorting office, so a full half-mile. It was well worth it though, my grey Seiko, it's been a great favourite of mine from that day on.

Edinburgh to Inverness by train and back, accompanied by my Whippet. That was to buy a FOIS from Ross C. Also did the same trip (without the hound on this occasion ) to buy a 16600 from Andrew Cregan.

    Can't argue with that reasoning..........

May consider similar to the USA in the near future - it ain't so bizarre.

I tried to do that to Basel last year and BA wouldn't let me book the immediate return - ended up spending am extra 4 hrs in the lounge to get the following flight!

I've seen things you people wouldn't believe.
Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion.
I watched c-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhäuser Gate.
All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain........

    Oh and Kent.

Thinking about this the furthest I've been is the local postal sorting office for an incoming but I've been much further to meet a buyer for a sale - the nearest motorway services :-)

I've flown from the Isle of Man a few times, just to pick up a watch.

Flew to Stockholm to sell an AP ROO Diver to one of our gang. Took a round trip to Bergen to buy my Platona. Will be taking a trip to Geneva, hopefully before year end, to pick up a little sumthin sumthin.

I've done Milan twice, New York, Copenhagen and Barcelona to collect watches.

Longest without buying was London to Southport, where I happened to bump into Jedly on one of his Oz-uk specials.

Houston, but managed to align it nicely with a business trip

Other than that, no further than the front door.

Was listening to the soundtrack today - what a great speech.
