    Wearable camera

A colleague of mine is thinking about buying a camera capable of taking digital video. The catch is he needs it to be wearable and unnoticeable. I think it's for his elderly Father who keeps being harassed by other tenants of the retirement building where he lives.

    Any ideas welcomed.

You can get various "harnesses" for a GoPro or similar action camera:

    https://www.amazon.co.uk/DURAGADGET-.../dp/B01EYNVQFQ

    https://www.amazon.co.uk/GotiTronics.../dp/B01MT9JYFU

    https://www.amazon.co.uk/USA-Harness...=action+camera

Obviously (a) it ain't too subtle (especially the head one) and (b) you need the camera and be able to easily turn it on and off.

There are things like this but whether they are more than a toy, I don't know.

If your friend's father is in a retirement home, or managed accommodation, is he sufficiently tech-savvy to be able to operate a camera, save the recordings etc? Wearable, discrete, quality recordings - pick two of those three. It won't help if he ends up taking fuzzy videos of a lampshade.

He might be better to look at Ring. My parents are still living in their own home, but for peace of mind my sister and I bought a Ring doorbell, so we can keep an eye on visitors. I receive a notification on my phone when the bell is activated, and the bell records for a couple of minutes and stores the recordings on a cloud storage facility. This costs us £24 per year. On top of that, they need a broadband router and contract, but they had this anyway so that my sister and I can do their weekly shopping through Ocado.

The added benefit is that I can speak to any visitor. The doorbell has worked really well for us, and it does give us the peace of mind that we were looking for. And Mum and Dad don't need to do anything.

It doesn't help if he's being harrassed outside of his home, but Ring also have security cameras which can be mounted to cover his front door, lounge etc. These work in the same way as the doorbell, so your friend could be alerted to any visitors.

^Some great leads, I'll direct him to this thread. Sounds like there are a few options that might work together. As you mention, tech will be the stumbling block. Thanks both.

The news that Google glass is to be re-released made me think of these people:

I have no idea whether any of this stuff is better or worse than the stuff you got after collecting Cornflakes tokens at the age of ten.
