Thread: Alternatives to PRS 25.

    Alternatives to PRS 25.

Friend of mine is retiring at work and we have raised about £250.
I think this the PRS 25 the perfect watch for him but my colleague is looking for a few other suggestions.
I was thinking of maybe a steinhart or seiko?
Would have to be new, automatic and in stock as he is leaving in a week!
No real restrictions regarding type - formal, divers, etc. would all be fine.
It also has to have a solid caseback as it will be engraved.
I suppose I wouldn't really want to go above 40 mm as he is quite old school.
Just looking for a couple more tried and tested options.
Only watches I have in that price range in my collection are quartz and I think automatic would be best in this case.
    Thanks,
    Kozza6.

If Steinhart are anything like what they were a couple of years ago when I last ordered, you won't recieve it within a week.

I'm beginning to like seiko more and more personally

    Seiko SARBxxx?

I'd go with the Everest TBH, a watch that can fit pretty much any occasion and a timeless design that'll look as good in 20 years as now. Good movement, good bracelet, the acrylic is really the only sticking point for some folk.

Thanks for the suggestions guys...I think he has decided to settle on the Everest after I mentioned it would be the WIS choice :).

Zeno explorer was the obvious alternative, even the alpha explorer.

Timefactors is closed until the 25th, so it will be tight getting one in time..

Plus, there's not much room on the caseback for an engraving.

Yes, my colleague just found that out today after giving Eddie a ring!
Will be tight for time. Think there should just be enough space for engraving.

Decided to go for this in the end as the other guys didn't want to wait for Eddie to return from holiday!
Still think it is nice but shame we couldn't get the PRS 25.
