Sizing the bracelet: why some don't bother

I hate seeing people wearing their watches which have clearly not been sized to their wrist. They always shake their wrist to adjust the position of their watch and it droops to their hand like a girls bangle.

Some actually believe that is the way to wear the watch!

Other than personal preference, is there a right or wrong way to wear a watch?
It's just a matter of time...

No even though some people would like to make that decision for you.

I like to wear my watches a little loose, It is more comfortable, especially in hot weather. I'm currently wearing my Tudor with a strap that allows me to adjust for conditions. Sorry if I'm violating some rule of watch conduct. As for shaking the wrist to see the watch, I don't wear them THAT loose.

Good luck everybody. Have a good one.

It's often intentional; some do like the bling style. It's not for me, but no skin off my ass if someone else prefers to wear their watch all dangly and jangly.

Though subjective æsthetic issues aside, it's certainly one of the more effective ways to wear out a watch's bracelet prematurely.

About 5 years ago, I noticed someone at work with a really loose watch on a bracelet. I asked him if he wanted me to size it for him.
"No, this one is supposed to be like that. You can't change the size." he replied.
I took a look at it. It was a Citizen with those double pin things. I got a paperclip and pulled one out.
"But...they told me in the shop..."
Five minutes later he had 3 spare links and a bracelet that fitted him properly. He'd been wearing it like that for two years.

Joe Rogan, not known to like a tight bracelet.

Almost as bad as wearing a watch so tight it causes a wrist muffin top

Each to their own though, I wear a little loose myself

Tony's right, this is definitely an issue caused by BREXIT.

At the F1 yesterday though, I saw a guy wearing a 43mm TAG 1887 (quite a large watch) and he hadn't sized it. It was rolling all over and no doubt smacking in to his hand at the same time. IMO it looks stupid to do this but if it's their choice then that's fine. If it's the dealer who sold it not being arsed to offer/do it for them then that's different, but normally the dealers are itching to scratch your watch, I mean resize it for you.

At the F1 yesterday I saw some people driving around with pictures of watches painted on their gloves. When will the madness end?

Yeah I do think that's a rather weird piece of marketing. Decent race and great atmosphere though.

My brother inlaw wears his watch like a bracelet and I have to admit it does annoy me, especially when he jingles it about. Even told him I'd resize it for him but shock and horror, he actually prefers to wear it that way.

As said already, is there a right way? I've seen pics here of people wearing their watches really tight which also, again to me just looks wrong.

Pin him down, remove it, resize it and throw it back at him and tell him to be normal and stop annoying everyone.

I'm sure I saw Daley Thompson on TV one and he was wearing an Omega SMP that still had every link in the bracelet. It was so loose that the watch head was under his wrist and the clasp on top.

A Chilean man I used to work with before he retired told me he wore his loose as he hated the constriction (expander bracelet aswell) and had his loose. He had an issue with things digging into his skin or the feeling and refused to wear wedding rings or jewellery for that matter.

The idea of work and loose watches has reminded me of the stories over the years of watches being caught on machinery and body parts being lost as a result.

Ewwww. When they take it off the skin of their wrist must look like they've been wearing a waterproof band-aid.

Dial size fits perfectly on your wrist but the strap needs to be tighter. And make sure the watch its entirely above your wrist bone, it looks like there's some overlap right now.

Chill! Don't be such a Nazi! We've reached a new low if there are now rules and regulations for how you wear your watch! What next? Laws on which wrist you wear it on???

I'm right handed. Wear watches on my right. Always have done, since I was kid. Just feels right to me.

But I always size the bracelets properly! Used to go very tight - I hated the watch moving on my wrist - but now I'm starting to tolerate a looser fit, albeit not quite as loose as some of those in this thread!

Of course, a watch is still a piece of product design and is designed in specific way. That's why some bracelets have micro-adjust, glidelock, removable links, extensions ect.

But like baseball caps worn backwards, trousers revealing undies, or untied trainers with a tongue sticking up, people can wear things however they prefer (even if they're wrong - which they are undoubtedly).

    Thieved it blud.

I thought maybe this was a crime inspired trend, i.e. you can't get it sized if you nicked it.

Yes, they can, but it'll make them look like a knob.........a very fashionable look thesedays amongst youngsters.

I thought wearing a watch that's slopping around because the bracelet hasn`t been adjusted had long since ceased to be fashionable amongst the knobhead fraternity........but I guess these things come back. A bit like wearing jeans with holes in the knees, that's made a comeback too.
