    The death of Doctor Who??

Now that it's been announced that Jodie Whittaker will be the next Doctor Who, is this the end?
I've been watching Doctor Who since the 1970's and it looks like the terribly Politically Correct BBC have finally signed it's death warrant?
    I won't be watching it anymore :(

I think it’s an excellent move. Over the last few years there have been several Time Lords, including the Master, who have had female regenerations. There is no reason why The Doctor shouldn’t be female.

The clue is in the name Time LORD, not Time person.

Funny the amount of people on Faceblook including plenty of women are complaining about this. It will be a disaster like Top Gear - you change the format you screw the show and no doubt the failing viewing figures will result in cancellation

Because IMO she is a very good actress, she might bring a new energy to the show and with good story lines it might surpass some past male performances.

It's simply insane. Another British tradition slaughtered at the altar of political correctness.

    I repeat my previous comment.

    Hello

I'd say give her a chance but I was hoping it might be Amara Karan.

That joke only works if you don't know that marvel has published a character since Wonderman since 1965 and that DC Comics first has a male Wonder Woman about twenty years ago...

    See this >>>>>>>>>

    thats how much I care.

its not the actress that's important - it's the quality of the script - which has been sadly lacking for about 10 years.

I find it amusing that in a fictional universe that has time travel, re-generation and aliens that the lead character being female for the first time has caused such uproar amongst fans for being stupid and not right 🤣🤣🤣

  24. #24
I'm not sure it should be a 'female' taking on the role...if TFL's new gender neutral approach on the London Underground is anything to go on:

    C'mon OP, have two hearts!

I was hoping deep down that the new Dr Who would be played by Benjamin Zephaniah. Not for political correctness, but because he's funky as hell!
I was also rooting for Mina Anwar, again for the same reasons....

Neither were in the running of course, just my fantasy.

The wife is a " whovian" and says it's about time and surprised there hasn't been a coloured Dr , I'm very unconvinced she can carry it off as the male Dr is generally very quirky and odd with some backbone etc ...

I never really understood why the BBC resurrected this tosh in the first place. They should have left it well dead and buried after Sylvester McCoy's tenure.

Like any long running show it's had its ups and downs. Sylvestor McCoy's tenure was particularly awful. Saying that, it's still one of the few shows that families with kids in the tricky 7-12 age bracket can sit down and enjoy together.

Why not bring back Noel's House Party on that basis then?

It's a childish (but enjoyable) family TV show about an time-traveling alien who cannot die and can change shape. It's hardly seems getting worried because one out of thirteen regenerates into a woman.

Disclaimer: I don't watch Dr Who so don't really care but...
It's the fact that it's taken so long that I don't get. If the Dr can regenerate as either male or female, why hasn't it happened before?

    Surely both inevitable and overdue.

What a totally smart arse left wing comment - you clearly believe that people aren't allowed an opinion that differs from people like you.?

How dare you presume to know what my opinions are? You must be feeling very upset, so I'll forgive you. This once.

I have no especial opinion on there being a female doctor who, but I remember very clearly my feelings in the early eighties when the ineffably wet Tristan from the James Herriot programmes was made Doctor Who. If that diffident piece of fluff was acceptable, why shouldn't some fruity blonde? At least she seems to have some steel in her eyes, which is more than could be said for Peter Davidson.

    The death of Doctor Who??

Ever heard of evolution? Stagnation is death, and after 12 attempts he finally made it to being a woman.

In order to cope with your distress at the casting of a female Doctor Who, you could always try growing up and watching programs made for adults instead of children's teatime telly.
