Di Modell Rallye - extending the loop anchor, any tips?

Having owned a few Di Modell Rallye's Ive have been impressed by the quality, comfort and appearance. I have just ordered a new one for my Speedmaster.

One thing that I struggle with is the length of the red fabric loop anchor. On my 6.75" wrist, ideally the second keeper needs to be further along the strap than the anchor will allow to keep the tail of the strap under control.

On a previous Rallye I cut the loop anchor but found the keeper would creep further along and off the end of the tail.

Has anyone succeeded in lengthening the anchor? If so, what method did you use?

Remove the anchor and put a tack stitch through the strap and loop to fix the loop where you want it. I've done this to a few Hirsch Liberty straps, it's invisible when the watch is being worn. You can use the holes already in the loop if stitched, do the holes in the strap with a needle before stitching, it makes life easier.

Or a simple spot of super glue on the back of the loop on to the back of the strap.

    Thanks gents.

I had thought of the stich method but not superglue.

Was trying to avoid losing the anchor - however to do so is probably the most practical way to proceed.

Now, strap alterations are a specialism of mine (!). I'd cut through the end of the anchor and then glue/stitch an extension onto it. That way it could be reversed with a couple of stitches to the end of the original anchor.

    That sounds interesting Tony.

What did you make the extension from and what type of glue did you use?

In addition to the Rallye I have ordered a Chronissomo and like the idea of being able to return both to original configuration!

I said I'd do it, not that I did it

    Sorry - misunderstood!

I think that an additional piece of material would need to be stitched to the anchor - cant see glue working, well not in a way that allowed you to return it to its original state.

Yes, hence my earlier edit. Should be a simple job, though.

    Thanks

Working from home tomorrow so will give it a try when the Rallye arrives.

Just off to look for some red material now......

I'd snip the back bit of the red loop where it joins the strap leaving the front half attached (so now instead of a loop you have a long tape). Then I'd restitch the end of it around the floating keeper back onto itself as to create a little loop at the end (like a lasso grabbing the floating keeper). That'd extent the travel by approximately 50%

You'd also be able to read the branding on the loop better.

No materials needed other than a. It of red thread. 1 stitch required.

(That's probably as clear as mud... could do with s sketch maybe)

    That makes perfect sense!

Just found some red thread too ready for tomorrow when I am hoping that both straps will arrive.

    Thanks!

    Update:

Well, the anchor extension method as described above works well - a bit fiddly but not that difficult. However it didnt provide enough length so regrettably I had to ditch the anchor all together.

Instead I lightly stitched the floating keeper in the best position. I was able to use a couple of holes already in the main strap that happened to be in just the right place so no need to push a needle through that part.

Works well with no excess tail sticking out!

The Rallye is a lovely comfortable strap - a bargain at £20

    Just a quick update

When I read Mick's suggestion I kind of poo poo'd it - couldn't see how that would hold

However, apologies are in order. A dab of super glue gel and the keeper is still being held in place very securely
