Heads up: Bulova WW £79.99 at Argos

I really like these and this is super cheap. Not many around but worth checking stock in your local stores...

    http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Produc...er/5380873.htm

I've reserved one in Bolton but don't need one, so PM me if you want the reservation number.

Edit: forgot I reviewed mine a while back...

Picked one up in Leyland Argos on Wednesday and took it back on Saturday.

Just couldn't get on with it but cracking watch for the money.

I've had one of these for a couple of months now and quite frankly I'm surprised they're still available at that price; £80 is a steal.

Neil is right. Quote from Argos site........

"The watch has a width of 42mm and depth of 11.4mm."

    Someone else's review:

I bought one last year, but didn't get on with the design (too chunky?). However, I love the UHF movement and now own a Bulova Moonwatch and a blue Surveyor.

I have one reserved at Argos in Colchester but don't think I will be able to collect it today. Reservation number available if anyone wants it or it will probably pop up as available on Thursday site after midnight tonight.

Worth noting that the version on a leather strap has also been reduced in price - to £109.99 I think - and, although visually identical, the leather version has a different model number and the addition of a screwdown crown, which the cheaper version doesn't have.
Depth rating is the same for both versions

I bought one via a previous online sale several months ago and they are superb value, especially at this price. It hasn't lost a second over that time either.

Accutron II is a mesmerising movement (well seconds hand) if you haven't seen one before. Very accurate.

Love to see it in more watches like the original Accutron.

As far as I can gather the early 96B229 (WW) watches also had a screw-down crown (but not in the UK), until Bulova changed the spec. The 96B230 is the model that comes on leather. I'd be interested to hear about the crown on one of these that was purchased recently.

Correct. It's a poor camera angle as it doesn't wear as big it looks and it's quite light and very comfortable.

Cool, thanks. Certainly looks like a lot of watch for the money in that video review, while all the positive comments on here are certainly encouraging.

I reckon the only thing that would bug me is the date position replacing the 6 marker, looks a bit odd with the 12 there. Could be a good excuse to only wear it on the 6th of every month

Might give me old man a bell and let him know, he likes a bulova too.

Got one a couple of days ago on the green NATO. Still deciding about it. Also got the brown leather one reserved. Reference previous posts do we know if it has a screw down crown? before I pick it up. Otherwise I'll check it out tomorrow.

Just to make it perfectly clear, Argos have been selling the following:

Model 96B229 Green fabric strap NOT screwdown crown

Model 96B230 Tan leather strap Screwdown crown

There are no other physical differences in appearance. Both watches have the same water resistance rating of 100 metres. The latest "clearance" green fabric versions are all 96B229 without screwdown crown, i.e. this version has not been upgraded to the 96B230. If you buy the one on leather it will be a 96B230 with a screwdown crown.

There may be two still available if anyone missed out on this, as I bought one from The Strand on Friday and decided it wasn't for me, so returned it immediately.

I had also bought and paid for a second one for my brother in law in the Old Kent Rd store (SE1 5JJ) that I wont be collecting if anyone wants to collect it (and send me the money).
Available until 8pm on Weds 19th July.

PM me if you are interested.

Took mine back today. Sat with it for a week and decided it wasn't for me. Loved the coin edge bezel but couldn't get away with the squarish case

For those who want an accutron but don't like military style here's a nice piece for 120quid - 55% off, they usually sell for 164gbp the cheapest I saw them was 134gbp so this is a very good price indeed

I've returned mine too as I couldn't get on with the hands; too short and the wrong shape for me. Shame as otherwise excellent.

  48. #48
I bought one of these back in January when they were, at the time, reduced to £89.99 with a further 10% off and a £5 voucher :-) and I have to say, I love it!
Keeps outstanding time, just a fraction of a second error over a few months, it wears comfortably, and that gliding seconds hand is a treat, it's just a shame they have finished stocking it.

Rather like the look of this. Also interested in the movement. Very accurate for a quartz, so they say, but I can't seem to find the specs. Can anyone shed anymore light on the movement please? Also does it have a sapphire crystal? This is something I may actually be able to afford.

The accuracy is claimed to be 10 seconds per year. I can't say I've checked. Also, they don't say which year, tropical, sidereal, or one of the others.

They can't mean the Gregorian calendar year, because that's an ISO standard and those aren't accepted on TZ-UK.
