It may have done its' own firmware update inbetween and is now rejecting the cartridge; SWMBO has had a similar experience. I now have the (fixed) IP address blocked on the router so it can't contact HP HQ over the internet.

how do i do that alan?

(if it involves a small hammer and some judiciously applied force, I'm in with a chance)

It will be router specific (and mine is in German so I'm not even sure I can give you the right keyword/menu options to begin with). If you PM the model of your router I'll see if I can find some instructions.

When I purchased third party inks for mine there was a note with them. Do not do any printer updates as it will render our inks unusable.

I always get a pop up asking to download updates, I naturally refuse. Yours must do them automatically

    Had just the same problem
Seemed to go just fine until the 3rd set of non. OE carts. Installing original HP ones didn't sort it out so had to scrap the printer.
