Ludgate Watches - Jamie Thorpe - convicted of selling fakes.

    http://www.theargus.co.uk/news/15378...tches_on_eBay/

Finally. Fake watches, Frankens and even faked papers.

Lots of threads on this and associated businesses. Credit to trading standards.

You can be sure he'll be selling still though........suspended sentence.

He has enough relatives and associates to be able to carry on his 'business' without necessarily having any direct involvement.

A forum search on Jamie Thorpe will turn up the threads that the OP has referred to, along with some other names, both of people and trading entities.

Other than the prison sentence, I suppose his previous buyers can take up civil suits to recover their losses. Otherwise, 12 months is too lenient imo.

The picture above is of Paul Thorpe, not Jamie Thorpe. I believe they are related.

More like the 'chap' that knocks on your door who has some asphalt left over from a job down the road. The trouble is, they make a good living at their less than honest occupations.

My mistake, I'm sure I've seen a photo of Jamie somewhere. I'll see if I can find it. As to your second point:

The Paul Thorpe (who I see wrote a recommendation for Alfie Joe Moody on the latter's LinkedIn profile) might be connected with (brother of?) the Jamie Thorpe who was behind West Sussex Watches and Ludgate Watches (q.v.).

I'm aware we don't get to see all of the evidence that the court does but I do wonder whether suspended sentences have the desired effect? I've no doubt a criminal conviction is impactful but maybe much less so to someone prepared to deliberatey falsify documents to defraud the public. It's a pity sentencing doesn't come after victim reimbursement as civil action will be time consuming, expensive and potentially fruitless if like many criminals the offender has organised his finances with a potential conviction in mind.
More draconian measures do have a certain appeal as I get older and less tolerant of fellow humans with little moral fibre.
    Rant over.

It's a shame you can't post a link to the thread about WSW on here that was pulled.
Good luck everybody. Have a good one.

See Business seller information on the link for "Ludgate Watches, Billy Stevens". So another name enters the picture.

It's rather incredible that a trader would sell fake/franken watches, surely they would know that it was just a matter of time before they were discovered and been a legit business very easy to catch the perpetrator. Perhaps the leniency of the UK justice system is no deterrent.

His eBay shop was a regular house of horrors. Poor condition Rolex with repainted dials in all manner of strange colours described as genuine.
