One bike (cycle) to do it all.....

I've come to the conclusion I just need one bike! Having sold the Supersix, Brompton, Orange P7 and about to flog the Pine Mountain 2. I need one comfortable, do it almost all bike for light trailing with the kids/commuting/Sunday rides

So far the front runners are Shand Stooshie or Mason Resolution

Anyone have a wife that causes these issues! :-)

No, it's the size of the shed that causes me to not have loads of bikes. When I put the shed up there was plenty of space for my stuff. Two kids later, paddling pool, scooters, trikes, bikes, baby seat, outdoor toys and all their other crap, there's barely space for me.

I store mine vertically now. Can fit in six bikes easily along with all the other crap
Good luck everybody. Have a good one.

Sorry, that is like saying you only need one watch, which in reality is true, but where's the fun and enjoyment in that.

Bikes like watches are always n+1 and Shand make some very nice bikes, I'm considering one for a future long-distance race.

When we met I encouraged my wife to get into cycling, she's got 4 now and wins more races! :-)

If I was to be thinking of such I might go with.

Had the same issue, went from high end carbon roadie plus hybrid to a Genesis Croix de Fer, does roads, commutes, kids, trails, and MTB tracks up to blue.

If you've a budget for a Shand would highly recommend, looked at them, interested but kids unfortunately affect budget also :)

If I were in the position of only being able to have one bike [shudder] then I'd probably go for one of these... Room for 40mm CX tyres or 2" MTB tyres on a 650 rim. Plus it looks the nuts in orange!

Spooky! I was going to recommend one of those.

Looks a bit odd to me. However, this bike with a spare set of race wheels would seem a good compromise

Having bought, built, dreamt up various solutions to the one bike conundrum, I am reasonable sure it does not exist ( for me anyway ) However some come close.

Maybe consider the Stanforth Kibo Dirt drop.

Slightly biased as a friend of mine stocks them...( probably can get a deal )

i always laugh when i go to Holland, they all seem to ride the same bike, children, teenagers, and pensioners all seem to get from a to b on a standard bike, that many Dutch cant be wrong!

As your budget extends to the Shand then you've loads of options and it sounds like you're aware of the smaller makers already.
More a road bike than 'adventure' bike thread but some useful info on custom build here http://singletrackworld.com/forum/to...ther-burls-etc.

I lhad a 'bargain' budget so as my first road bike, and seeking comfort, I bought a Genesis Equilibrium 20 disk for road plus occasional minor off road. All good although I took delivery of a well priced Specialized Diverge Comp today to try that as it's N+1 for shiny things.
