£2k to spend on a watch

    Hey guys,

I've managed to flip some old watches and can't decide on my next purchase.

    Looking for some inspiration please!

The question is what would you spend £2k on today? Pictures appreciated :D

I've been deciding between a 2nd hand Eta black bay with the blue bezel or... Maybe a grand seiko...that Aqua Terra has a beautiful blue dial too Ooo lala. Then again maybe I should save a little more for a speedy. Gah!!

Edit: have a datejust, and a nice stowa flieger too!

If I HAD to spend the money, it would be a toss up between a Datejust with fluted bezel, a 37mm or less Quartz Grand Seiko or something from Nomos (Metro, Minimatik or Orion35). If it was me I would most likely save the cash for a BLNR / Hulk/ SubC date.

Depends what else you already have? Other than the DJ and the Stowa. You looking for a genre? Diver, dress ?

Nivrel Replique Lemania Limited. Using the famous ultrathin Lemania 8810 automatic movement, the whole watch is just 7.4mm thick. Limited edition of 30, one is still available from an AD on German eBay, 2000 €

2k is a bit of a no mans land for new watches so suspect 2nd hand will offer loads of choice. This will give you massive amounts of options I'd suggest you really drill down to a style you want. Do you Need loads of WR and wearable every day without worrying. Then it could be a Seamaster or Breitling. Do you want classic dress with solid daily wearability then the datejust comes into play or an AT .Some would spend 2k on a delicate beauty from Vacheron or AP. There's a huge amount of choice

I know it's a third as much again, but I'd save for a bit... https://www.chronext.co.uk/omega/spe...-01-005/004440

I'd save for a bit and get new AK/Exp/OP around the £4K mark.

I second this. In that price bracket a Speedmaster Professional is a great choice. Might get one within budget if you don’t mind pre-owned.

Obviously I don't know where you are , but Fraser Hart at the shopping centre near St Paul's in London

    https://onenewchange.com/shops/jewellery-and-watches

They had a new ETA BB with the blue bezel on a strap for just over £1700.

    Cheers

    lovely suggestions chaps.

I'm split on blackbay vs speedy.

i'll go try on the blackbay and see...but my heart is leaning towards a speedy right now.

Top tip if you do go for a speedy - your budget will attract watches that are a few years old. Try to find one that has recently been serviced if it's 5 to 10 years old - a service will set you back a couple of quid!!

    Go to Beaverbrooks web site.
    Select search watches
Set Filters to Men's, Automatic, Reduced .
Some crackers come up. Oris, Tag Omega.
    And odd balls too.

For me it would be a SMPc best value watch IMHO at that price range.

Should get a nearly new full set for your budget.

Speed master or 42mm Planet Ocean 2500 if you want a robust, accurate diver.

Great suggestion but I'm not sure my wrist can pull off the 3,915mm lug length of the Mazda.
