You've won the lottery/that man in Nigeria really was telling the truth...

...and you have £150million to spend on property and cars, ignoring for now charity donations, investments, your work, watches, helping out friends and relations and so on. That's £150million to spend on you. Just for fun, what would you buy? All the cars and property you always wanted, or your council house like Susan Boyle did.

My wife dreams of buying property in her favourite sunny holiday destinations - Miami, Thailand etc, and flying between them all year round, and somewhere (the only place we agree on) in central London.

I'd have a place in the old city in Le Mans, somewhere in Normandy with space for cars etc, a house in the Pyrenees (I don't ski, just for summer driving), a place somewhere very remote in Scotland with a lake for my flying boat and steam launch and somewhere 100 or so top driving miles west of my Winchester base. I used to think I'd have a Panda 4x4 and Caterham at every house but a Nomad would do the job of both perfectly, plus a scattering of classic cars (what French house would be complete without a Mehari?). Cars would include an Evo VI Makinen and a black/black MP4-12C only for night driving. The main daily in the UK would be a perfectly unrestored Bristol 411 with a good 500bhp or so from its nice new V8.

I'd also commission that bloke in New Zealand to make me a set of my favourite Ferrari 250s (), or perhaps just a GTO for each country, in the appropriate colour scheme. Life wouldn't be complete without a Porsche 906/Carrera 6 and 904 or two:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H4lNo1Ti9QE

The best part? I'd only get to see the wife a few weeks of the year...

    Over to you.

    Properties:
A farm in the new forest as main residence, plenty of land and garage space.
Chalet in the french Alps (on the Mont D'Arbois in Megeve, France) for winter and summer fun
House in Mayfair as a second UK residence.
A farm near my hometown in France.

    Cars:
I already own the best car in the world and it's not an MX5, but I would probably get an F40 and a McLaren F1, the two poster cars of my teenage.
A 911 GT3 RS to play on track days
Plus a large number of classics, too many to name but nothing extravagant, just some lovely nice simple cars

    I am a simple guy...

    Buy a Gulfstream G650
Live wherever I felt like living that week.
Hire whatever car I felt like driving that week.

Might even let the wife and kids come along.

    • Original D-Type
    • Some others on my itch list classics: Gordon Keeble, an Imp, Fiat 850 Sport, Masertati Quattroport, A DS, Something pre-war.
    • Bigger estate to house the classic car collection and as a project (orchards, woodland walks etc.)
    • A traction engine (and employee someone to look after it)
    • Something from Roger Smith (new not second-hand to get the whole buying experience)
    • House neat the beach in West Wittering
    • House in Normandy / Brittany
    • Learn to fly and buy a classic twin engined plane, something like a Beechcraft
    • Set-up a charity to encourage practical, every day environmentalism: recycling, turning off lights, less packaging etc.

(ps Hmm, a sleeper 411, like it).

    I'd buy a 250GT SWB SEFAC.

And save the rest for income-related speeding fines.

I'd buy a large Scottish estate on the west coast and spunk the rest on large tracts of virgin rainforest around the globe, NZ, Costa Rica , hawaii, Hainan, andhra pradesh, etc
Good luck everybody. Have a good one.

A place in Beaver Creek and one in the Kitzbuhel area, would cover my Winter and some summer needs.

A big place in Faial in the Azores, as I think I'd live there a lot.

Probably a small house in the Plymouth area, but not in the city as my UK base (realistically, probably a flat near Heathrow or Gatwick too to save on the stupidly early starts if flying anywhere!)

Cars - I'd get my Marcos fully restored and I'd 100% have an F40. I might have a 458 too - I've never driven a car so perfect before or since! I do have a hankering for a Maserati Gran Turismo too, well I'd need something to take my Mum shopping in!

That's it really, I'd live off the rest, lots of travel, but I'd simply rent properties or stay in hotels.

    Property:
I'd build my own house near to where I currently live, non monetary circumstances mean moving isn't currently an option.
Spec for the house would be as green as possible with as much independence from regular supply as is practical. Lots of land, independent water source, pool, extensive garaging, music room, landscaped low maintenance garden, lots of home automation, etc.

I'd buy my mothers house and have it totally renovated so she could live in comfort.

I'd buy a small holding in north Devon and lease it to my best friends for a pittance - it would have to have separate guest accommodation for us to visit though. It's their dream and I love the area so with that much money why not?

A lakefront property in Annecy France.

A property overlooking stanley park in vancouver.

    Cars:
    2 that I know i'd buy:
A Lexus LFA as an investment and rare fun car.
    A Tesla model S p100d as a daily driver.

2 types I'd buy but having never been in the position to afford i don;t know exactly what:
    A classic 2 seater convertible.
A modern sports / super car.

    Also:
Some sort of 4x4 thing for rumbling about the estate or hauling crap around, maybe a defender or a land cruiser or possibly some big american pickup. Or maybe a bentley bentayga because i can.
    Whatever the wife wants.

I'd buy a small art gallery in Mayfair and fund lots of unknown artists whose work I liked. Most of it would never sell and the gallery would lose money but I'd love it.

And I'd have all of my current watches serviced and in some cases renovated. And buy a Duometre World Timer, with a custom made strap.

I'm happy with my house which is paid for, but I'd buy the house off the neighbours on one side and keep it empty, just to see the back of them :).

I'd buy a house on the sea in/near Helsinki.

    Two vehicles:

    and

The rest of the world and driving I'd rent and hire as needed.

Some sort of rambling old house in Surrey/Sussex, the kind I drool over in Country Life.

    First class flights everywhere!
Some people we know go by private jet all over Europe and that seems nice but I wouldn't fancy it trans atlantic when we visit our son and daughter in law.

Not too bothered about cars as long as they are new and shiny, although I would like a completely renovated Citroen DS in baby blue with a white roof.
    Cheers,
    Neil.

I'd get a dog similar to the one in your handle! Love English Bullies..

Oh plus a DB4, a house for each family member, a nice chalet (one Alps one Whistler), a house on Lions Bay just outside Vancouver.. And some toys. And, inevitably, shiny things for the better half.

Shepherd Market is ok for drinks. Farm Street church is ok for weddings. And the odd service.

    Transport is good.

There are worse places to be.

A good question! I had to think about that one. But here we go:

A newly built, house on the Dutch coast. Preferable Domburg (near Flushing). Style? Dutch design from the 20s/30s of the 20th century.
    A Hallberg Rassy yacht.
A DB4, my current TR3A, a 356 in Outlaw style (we will restore it in-house, no Singer needed!)
A LandCruiser as my daily driver alongside my VW Up for city trips.

    Abroad:
A house on Captiva Island, Florida.
A Hallberg Rassy - the twin of my Dutch boat
A stylish (not muscle car) Motown Iron

A fund for scientific research on Alzheimer (it runs in my family)

As an ex Londoner can only agree if i never went back to London again it would not bother me at all and now only do it if i want to see the kids as to the having that sort of wonga maybe a bigger house by the sea there is a very nice art deco place near but i would put in a proper lift as SWMBO is getting some hip problems, cars not bothered, planes and boats the same and have travelled the world so content now to be in blighty.
See the kids right keep a nice chunk and give the rest to charity.

However seeing SWMBO is getting hip problems then maybe might chuck in an apartment for the Russian twins

Me and the wife would stay local, buy a decent plot and have a largish 5 bedder built.
I'd want some secure land where I could let the dogs run free and somewhere I could thrash around in a jacked up Defender. Tennis court for the eldest, huge games and cinema room for the youngest.

Abroad....somewhere on the Croatian Dalmation Coastline, preferably around Split-Trogia
    Small villa on Brac

    Cars....Audi R8
    Audi RS 6 Avant
    Land Rover D4
    Range Rover Sport SVR
    Tesla with the funny doors.
New mini coop rag top for the wife.

    Boring stuff.

At least 3 hobbies that keep you in check and down to earth.

It's great for 6 months but spending soon becomes boring and monotonous then the real boredom sets in.

You need to keep it real, and stay away from the drink.

I guarantee by the time you have purchased your 4th car you probably won't be arsed about picking it up.

Remember keep it real and weed out those who are just after your cash.

As for friends forget it, they get jealous and moan about your penny pinching ways, like only getting them standard tickets to Dubai while your up front, then they moan about staying in the Le Royal Méridien Beach Resort and Spa while your in the Burj Al Arab.

Who needs friends, especially poor ones.

My god that is one fugly yacht.

Sailing Yacht A moored up just off Cap d'Antibes when I was there a couple of weeks back - that's not an attractive yacht either, although I suspect it looks better in full sail rather than under motor power as she was when I saw her.

I had to look that one up... I wish I hadn't done that. By far the ugliest vessel ever. $ 300+ million...Even more ugly than the one sestrel posted! Proof that can have the money but not the taste!

This is a tough one but I'd buy gin. Lots of gin. Maybe a Afla romeo SV and a lambo miura as well. As for where to live, thats a really difficult decision. I think we'd stay in a few plush villas / hotels while we decided where we'd like to hang our hat. Did I mention I'd buy some gin?

I'd buy the old family farm that my uncle sold a few years back, in Devon.

A house near where we live in Dorset bigger than our current one with some land.

I'd buy Yeovil Town football club.

And travel not necessarily in first or business class, but having the time and money to explore the globe without budget pressures, an extended tour of Asia and a trip to New Zealand and Australia would be my first ideas, although the wife would want a safari.
Then it would be on to the less touristy locations.

150 mill should be enough to be getting on with. I'd keep the place I live in now as all the family are close by, but I'd buy a place on Lake Garda and bugger off over there to live and only come back when I felt like it. Car-wise, I'd have a garage full. Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint Speciale & Giulia GTC, an Abarth 695 for daily use and an UR-Quattro SWB would get the the collection going nicely and not be too impractical. Maybe a type 35 Bugatti as well! I'd also have a helicopter (something decent - no Robinson rubbish) and although I don't care for boats a great deal, I think a Lamborghini-engined Riva Aquarama would fit the bill nicely too..
