Pity about the size, but I quite like how they've decided to use titanium.

Exactly to your exactly Dave, it looks remotely similar to the BLNR at first glance due to the ceramic insert, but the hands are different, a date in the 6 o'clock position and the inner numbered rehaut make it look like a completely different watch that isn't even made with the same metal and has no cyclops on the crystal.

So what is it an imitation of?

I think it's a copy of something very rare and unique a..................................WATCH! Seems all these manufacturers are copying each and making devices that have hands and tell the time, disgusting isn't it.

Is it a copy of a watch and if so which one or pure imitation.

    Please clarify.

Well there are nods to the BLNR for sure but it's far from been a straight copy imho, it is certainly a copy of a watch though :-)

Edited to add I was agreeing with you, if it was lost in the sarcasm which was directed more to the post you were responding too.

I like it but I won't be buying one not because I don't like the brand, or because it bears similarities to another brands watch but because I don't like the brand logo, yes the s with the little crown, yeah I know madness but hey this is WISdom right.

Agreed, a very different watch in many ways. I really like it.

EDIT - actually the more I look at it the more I love it!!!!

Personally I really like this. I wonder how long before they filter through to the second hand market? Or am I best buying new?

I also like it and am glad they've done something to add their mark to the watch rather then simply making a copy of a watch that can't be mentioned

Very nice. Far less 'Rolex inspiration' than their usual work. If it was 44 mm I'd have one

It's cool to dismiss Steinhart watches as Rolex rip-offs, even the ones that look fook-all like any current or historical Rolex.

I'm sure I wouldn't be! I'm not embarrassed to wear my Steinhart GMT-a-like - an amazing number of people say how good it looks. After all, its a very high quality product for 10% of the price of certain other brands, which I can't afford anyway.

btw can someone inform me why this version has been labelled 'Batman' ??

Really like this, shame about the size though. I'm sure a lot of members were hoping for 39mm as mentioned in the other thread.

How robust is a titanium case compared to stainless?

The weight saving might make up for the size

Would also like to know how robust they are.

Can anyone with a titanium watch give some insight on how they compare to stainless?

Nice and light but tend to scratch easily unless it has some sort of coating.

scratches in a different way to steel though. scratches are far less noticeable than on a highly polished steel watch

i prefer ti. warmer, lighter and for me has more character.

True but my Avenger Seawolf scratched far too easily for my liking but it still looked great as an overall design in Ti over steel.

i think scratches in ti develop a nicer 'patina' than in steel

I have a titanium PD chronograph which hasn't got a mark on it. They wear far better than polished SS and marks are less noticeable than brushed SS.

Titanium is stronger than steel but it forms more of an oxidised layer. I believe it's this oxidised layer that scratches show up on. I bought a badly beaten up Pelagos titanium and the strap was in a helluva state. I used an ink eraser (just from staples ✏️) and worked on it for 40 mins did it was back to almost new so the actual titanium was unharmed despite its initial ghastly appearance. Before and after pics below

I owned the an original Ocean 500 with the dreaded Soprod movement- The titanium didn't mark that badly, well not as bad as I expected it to anyway, actually was pretty robust. Different movement and tapered bracelet(hopefully colour match with bracelet and clasp has been sorted) is a win win for me, certainly wouldn't be embarrassed to wear it!

Yw. Strangely the clasp on the Pelagos isn't titanium it's steel despite the rest of the bracelet being titanium

I actually don't like the blue/black combination on the bezel at all, so both the Rolex and the Steinhart look equally awful to me. Except the Rolex is more expensively awful than the Steinhart.

I like the vintage-look steinhart watches but this isn't nice at all IMO. Davosa do a similar watch and it appears to have better proportions.
