It's summer time, and hot one at it at least for the moment, so what salads are you lot tacking in to?
Ours, in no particular order:

Greek Salad
Rocket and parmigiano
Caesar Salad

Thai green papaya or mango salad
Tamatos, onions and balsamic vinegar
Tomatoes, cucumber, radish and dill

I like to eat salads all year around, and he best ones are the ones where you just chuck whatever you have in the fridge in. And never ruin it with "dressing" of any sort.
By the way, don't laugh, but Mc Donald's grilled chicken salad isn't bad, and only 130 calories.
Also, they do espresso / Americano for 99p which is far superior to Starbucks / costa.
Note, I do not work for McDonalds !
I love salads and average five or six a week. Sometimes with tuna but usually with pitta breads or naan breads. No salad dressing. Sometimes with Wensleydale cheese and cranberries. But always with walnuts. I'm vegetarian and attempting to go vegan.

Nice one A ^ I usually go for filet-o-fish(sp?) and chips if there is one on my way home from a night out. Last couple of times it was dry and almost tasteless, so it's good to know there is a healfy alternatife
Anyhok so if there are any local take on the classics or, even better, some obscure local delicious salads I want to know!
PS forgot to mention tricolore, absolutely love it, benefits enormously from a good peppery olive oil. I usually put either cornichons or black olives as an alternative to using NaCl.

Caesar every time, though my other half makes a very good Greek salad now and then.
Another vote for Caesar; with extra cheery tomato, added red onion and thin sliced scallion, as a perfect accompaniment to pan-fried trout fillet.
Love it, albeit it is on a slightly heavier side, one of Mrs 'to go to' ones is tatties, onions and sunflower oil served warm (warmth of boiled potatoes mellows onions and the whole thing is lifted up by cold pressed unfiltered sunflower seed oil mmmmmmm.) My other favourite is zee Kartopfelsalad (humorous sp) and one with just warm baby new potatoes, crème fraiche and dill. Bx, I feel hungry now..

Nearly all Thai and Lao salads are fantastic in my book. As well as the already mentioned som tam and tam mamuang, check out the various 'yams' such as yam hua pli thot, yam takhrai kung sot and yam bai cha. My mouth is starting to water just thinking about them.
I like to have a salad served in a proper bowl.
Watching this with interest. I turned 40 just over a week ago and am going vegetarian for 2 years to get my body regulated back to 'normal' (weight, blood sugar, colon etc) and so far I have been eating Indian and Arabic food almost exclusively. 9 pounds lost in a week though :)
As an FYI, anyone else who went veggie end up farting like a motorboat once you made the change? I'm convinced this recent hot weather is global warming caused by the gases I've been giving off.

I don't really drink a lot of milk, so making the switch shouldn't be too hard. A small amount on my breakfast cereal and a splash in my tea. Mind you, I drink a lot of tea each day. I'm now trying it sans milk.

I have never eaten a salad in my life .Iam a Scottish male though so it's in my genes .I have eaten peas and corn on occasion but nobody saw me so I think I got away with it

Saying that I've just come back off an AI holiday and I'm feeling pretty bloated. I reckon a few weeks of healthy eating is in order to stop my shirts looking like they have been ironed over a wok!
Just finished a really nice chicken salad with the good lady on our balcony over looking Cala D'or marina.😋
Salads are fine, as long as they have a little protein included . . .

Brain Salad Surgery?
Make your own coleslaw. Slice up white cabbage (the round hard little bastards) and a couple of carrots. Do loads and store in the fridge (no more than a week or it gets stale).
I like to make enough for one meal so that you can change the flavours each time.
Basic dressing: plenty of mayo (Hellmans only) and a good dollop of Heinz salad cream. I sometimes make it slightly sweet with a bit of sweetener (or sugar if north of Hadrians wall) or will add mustard, cumin, paprika, depending on what flavour I'm aiming for. Add a dollop of tomayto ketchup for a thousand islands theme.
This may change your life and make salad acceptable to you Viking he-men.
Just do not like salads will eat a small caesar , nicoise or cobb occasionally but that's about it and just hate that salad "garnish" that restaurants think enhances dishes.
Interesting choice to go vegetarian for 2 years. Brave, too. I understand the need to get back to a more reasonable weight and girth as well as medical parameters. But whilst I eat a 10th of the meat I used to eat in my younger years I still feel it is too extreme for me. I'd still have meat, if only once a week.

Shish Kebab with red cabbage, onion and tomato. And those strange pickled pepper things.

As a family of veggies we not surprisingly love our salads :)
Tonight will be a simple salad of romaine roughly cut with onions, peppers and tomatoes. Add some sliced avocado a small amount of mozzarella or feta, red grapes and some coriander. Only dressing is a sprinkle of EV olive oil.
Served with chana masala (really easy to make apart from skinning the chickpeas which is a royal PITA).
If you're vegan leave out the mozzarella/feta (and swap the butter/ghee in the chana masala for your preferred alternative) and you're away.
Hungry now!

Never used to much like British salad as it seemed to usually be some iceberg lettuce, a cucumber and a tomato.
Have since seen the light, favourite warm salad is; scallops, crispy bacon, rocket, pear, strawberry, goats cheese, beetroot and some leaves. Yum.
Not a salad fan really, but have had this a couple of times in the recent heatwave. Think i invented it, so it doesn't have a name, but it's tasty and filling
Base of chopped lettuce leaves, plenty of diced cucumber and red pepper, lots of red onion (cos i like onion). Then a couple of smoked mackerel fillets broken over the top. Garnish with a generous helping of little (15mm ish) diced potatoes, roasted till nice and crispy golden, then allowed to cool down a touch. Then drizzle some balsamic over the top.
Totally right, love iceberg lettuce (cut small) with radicchio (cut small) , tiny boiled potatoes cut in half, sliced cornichons, minced dried tomatoes, cold pressed EVO and capers.
Another salady side dish is "spinaci alla fiorentina". Baby spinach leaves wilted 2 mins in EVO and garlic, take out garlic and add one squeezed lemon and a little salt.
Both are great on their own or as a side to a "tagliata" steak or a veal burger or "straccetti" of silverside. Both need some sourdough bread to mop up the juices.

Guaranteed most or all of that is water weight. My weight can naturally fluctuate over the course of a day by as much as 6lb just from hydration. If you switch to a low carb or very low calorie diet, you very rapidly lose a lot of retained water, mainly from liver and muscle glycogen depletion. Most of that comes right back as soon as you stop. This is also why people often think they've hit a plateau when dieting and get discouraged.
To actually lose 9lbs of fat requires a caloric deficit of 31,500. A typical human male with a TDEE of 2,500 calories would need to live on nothing but water for 13 days to achieve that (very, very dangerous btw). Hence the only way it would be possible in a week is with extremely high levels of physical activity* combined with very low calorie intake, which is nearly impossible to do and also extremely dangerous.
* Edit: just worked out it would require running for about 4-5 hours per day with zero calorie intake, which would probably kill you.

I've been sticking cucumber, baby plum tomatoes, beetroot and spring onion tossed in a "homemade" (1tbs mayo and 1tsp wholegrain mustard) dressing on top of a nan bread lately. Add some chicken or halloumi and a dollop of mango chutney on the side and it's really very good.
Has anyone tried a spiralizer? I've just got one, but haven't tried it out yet.
I really like kebabs, including salad kebabs. These consist mostly of cabbage and onion, with a pita bread. I've been working on a good chilli sauce recipe so I can start making my own. Cabbage is a pain to cut thinly enough by hand though, hence the spiralizer purchase. Apparently there are other uses like making vegetable noodles, which could either be very good or just plain wrong.
While I haven't got the kebab sauce 100% the way I like it yet, the most basic version is still good enough that you can make a pretty decent salad kebab. All the benefits of a good vinaigrette, with no fat and hardly any calories.
For the sauce, just get a can of chopped tomatoes and stir in some finely chopped garlic and chilli, plus a teaspoon or two of mint sauce. It may also benefit from some tomato puree and lemon juice. This will keep for about a week in the fridge, possibly longer depending on the pH (more lemon juice and/or vinegar = longer lasting).
For the salad, finely chop some cabbage (I use both red and white) and some onion, plus optionally a bit of lettuce and diced cucumber. I don't currently bother, but you might want to blanch the cabbage so it's crunchy but not as tough. Can also add things like julienned carrot or beetroot to taste. It's slightly redundant given the sauce, but you can also add some fresh tomatoes. I'd recommend cherry or plum, halved or quartered.
Just pour the sauce on the salad and serve with (or in) a pita bread (hot or cold). If you want to add any sort of spiced meat on a skewer, you've basically got a shish/shashlik kebab. If you want to add something cooked but keep it vegan, you could just grill some mushrooms and peppers.
Best to eat it fresh, but I have found that the salad will keep well for at least a couple of days in a sealed container in the fridge, if given a light coating of olive oil and lemon juice. Though obviously this stops it being zero fat. Lettuce and cucumber probably won't hold up so well, so if using those it's probably best to add them at the end separately.
Make your own salad dressing! I use a good pesto , mived with olive oil and balsamic.
Also, grow your own herbs ( no, not that kind!) and add to your salad. Stuff a load of rosemary into a bottle and fill with extra virgin, makes a great dressing too.
Btw, so called 'vegetarians ' that eat fish or chicken, are called something else, hypocrites.
