Surely gotta be worth £600-£1000 once serviced and working.
As title, came across this while clearing a deceased relative's house.
Doesn't work, case diameter (exc. crown) 27mm

Not exactly what I would class as 'dire condition'.
OK, it's grubby and needs the case cleaning up. The dial's aged too. The big question is whether it's genuine; Rolex fakes have been around for many years! If it is genuine there's definitely some value in it but I`ve no idea what that may be. Others on this forum will have a far better idea.
Have you tried searching on Google for a similar model?.....always a good starting point to determine whether something's 'right' or not.

I would think that this was in good condition and worth around £400 as it sits
Nice looking watch but its a shame its so small
That is not "Dire condition" this is
But it is amazing what can be done, and yes that is the same watch (sadly not my handiwork though)

What was the cause of this. It looks like someone's replaced the dial with the dead of night!
@ the op I'd echo the others thoughts that doesn't look too bad if a bit small for most current tastes. On value though I'm sorry I don't have a view.
Ask Hodinkee to write an article about it and you'll sell it for 15 to 20k easily. Hipsters will buy anything that gets an approved by Hodinkee stamp.
It would be interesting to know how much hodinkee charges for their endorsement. I did enjoy their content and high quality production, but it's not even trying to not be a series of advertorials now.

That all black crystal is like something a cartoon super villain would wear, I quite like it :-)
