I love their description:
'The STEINHART Ocean Titanium 500 GMT Premium our contemporary interpretation of a divers watch classic' = we blatantly copied it, everyone knows it and we just don't care!

The hands are not Mercedes. The date at 6 does not have a cyclops. If you think this is a blatant copy then you're wrong. "Inspired by" would be fairer.
My Marcelo C GMT from 2005 with cyclops and Mercedes hands was a MUCH closer copy to what Rolex was selling at the time.
Oh come on!!! Numbered chapter ring cyclops lumed bezel sapphire case back different bezel font 42mm diameter it's TITANIUM (!) different hands date position. Good god man the only similarity to BLNR is it's got a blue black bezel!
It's not even close to a replica - if the Rolex lawyers are bored they should look here or here

I'm a actually very disappointed by Steinhart's restraint!

I think it looks good. Has a look all of its own actually . The obvious distant blue black thing is there. But apart from the bezel there are so many differences that I feel some slack should be given to Steinhart since the hatred of them is mostly based on their reputation for blatant replica making. At least this is a move away from that with the core of the watch being actually the original titanium 500 which most agreed was their first serious watch of their own making.

I'm not sure whether it's still relevant information, but my friend has a Davosa Ternos diver with a ceramic bezel (just not the GMT version) and he has nothing but praise for the quality. We haven't really discussed it, but he also has a 116610 Sub and a few other decent watches and he wouldn't have got himself the Davosa if it wasn't up to scratch (he was looking for a blue-on-blue diver).
I quite like it. I've came close to buying the Ti500 a few times, but I've been put off by the suspicion that it's just a bit too grey and muted for even my dull aesthetic. I think the BLNR bezel gives it just enough of a flourish to elevate it. Question is, have they sorted out the QC with those new tapered bracelets?
If I were to be tempted by this, the bracelet would likely end up tucked away in the box anyway as it looks like a strap monster. Bracelet does look quite nice but I fear it would scuff up terribly quickly. My first reaction to the watch is very positive but in the spirit of pragmatism ....
A) it's actually quite different from BLNR so my pining may continue as some suggested
B) wish it were 40mm
C) the bezel should be bidirectional?

Is actually quite unappealing. Davosa looks a thousand times more refined.
There is a short video of it here on someones wrist. Quite underwhelming...

Shame it's not 40mm. It's not a blatant copy, unless people think that Rolex are the only ones allowed to use blue /black on a gmt?

Steinhart could release a used condom on a leather strap and people would still be up in arms saying they'd blatantly copied Rolex.
Well this looks nothing like a BLNR in my opinion. The bezels both have black and blue in them. That's it.
I got the e-mail off Steinhart this morning.

I don't think they can be accused of ripping Rolex off this time. I note that it is still 42mm which will disappoint a few.
The OT500 was an original design, not copied. But attaching a BLNR bezel is really ugly, what a pity.
It's different enough from a BLNR to be something I would wear if I liked it.
Looks good!
At least they didn't ruin it with a cyclops.
Have to say, I quite like the look of the new Steinhart illustrated below.
Let's be fair as well, it is a generic dive watch, it is not just a total rip-off of the BLNR.
Sapphire case back, decent movement and Ti throughout for euro660 it is a pretty decent specified watch at a decent price.
PS. I am not a Steinhart fanboy.

If you buy one, are the stickers and tags held back
Looks interesting but a little toylike imho

People saying it's too big... It looks quite small in the pics, its smaller than normal Steinharts isn't it?
Just checked and my one is 42mm.
I think any smaller it'd look like a mid size.
Rolex fanboys just get jealous when they realise they're paying ten times as much for a blatant copy of a steinhart ;-). What is it Sekonda say? Beware of expensive imitations
Saw the Steinhart this morning on an announcement email; ummed and arred for a couple of hours then bought one. Will post review following receipt and getting used to it.
