I'm really starting to feel old.

Remember when we only had about 1/2 hour to 1 hour of children's tv? And on two channels!!

    Loved playschool and trumpton.

Anyone heard Half Man Half Biscuits song "trumpton riots"?

Such a shame, another with Parkinsons, poor bugger.

You really start to feel old when your childhood starts to pass away in droves.

    Big Ted
    Jemimah
    Hamble

The names come back and he brought them to life.
I think I'm mourning my own childhood as much as his loss. He was such a big part of it and i'd almost forgotten.
Brian..i'd like to say thank you.

Quite an achievement to be remembered by so many, so long after retirement.

    Part of our childhoods.

Very saddened to hear of Brian's death. Huge talent and forever a part of my memories of childhood - and beyond. Glad to hear he got a BAFTA in 2010. Should have got a knighthood!

"I phoned a friend and told him I'd got Parkinson's. He said, 'What night are you on?'" [Brian in a BBC interview]

    RIP Brian.

agreed, another who should be knighted for services to children's TV and well being is Derek Griffiths aged 70 and still going strong.

Fond memories of watching Play School and Play Away, and then, many years later (1993?) watching Dappledown Farm with my 4 year old daughter, he had me in stitches watching that.

I agree, should have got a knighthood.
