Budapest Eye Construction, Five Day Time-Lapse

Apologies for the duplicate thread, I've also posted this over in Digital Photography but I'm unable to embed videos over there and I also thought that it might be of interest to G&D regulars.

Every year a huge ferris wheel is constructed in Erzsébet tér in the centre of Budapest. I made this video from five days of time-lapse photographs taken at ten minute intervals whilst it was being constructed.

The music is 'Darazsak' (which means 'Wasp') by the excellent Hungarian group, Magashegyi Underground.

Always wondered how those things went up.

    What camera did you use?

It was a GoPro on a tripod with an independent USB power source. The camera was set up to take the stills at ten minute intervals and I used iMovie to knit them all together. Because not a lot happened overnight I edited out a large chunk of the darkness shots. I was fortunate with the orientation, it is nice to see the sun shoot across the sky each morning and from then on the wheel is well lit for the photographs.

Yes, although it is a slightly different design this year with partially open cabins. We'll be in Budapest from 7-14 July and can't wait.

It's a great place, plenty to see and do. I'd recommend the chairlift, the bus drops you at the foot of the hills. District 7 for a good old fashioned tear up on the booze. The citadel for great views plus plenty of other sites. Lovely place.

Budapest is a beautiful city with plenty to see, but summer can be really hot...

Loads! I wasn't bored in four years of living in Budapest, a long weekend is barely enough to scratch the surface. I recommend a look at this thread:
