    Rolex sea dweller SD4000

I have just taken an as new SD4000 in trade against my wife's car and was wondering what prices people were getting offered for these from the usual suspects in the trade now there are discontinued?

The watch was purchased new on the 08-06-17, is unworn with stickers in place, bezel protector etc, it's a full set.
I'd like to keep it but it really needs to go to fund my wife's next vehicle.

I believe the last RRP was £7700? But have seen some crazy prices online.

Make a few phone calls and you should have an answer pretty quick. I'd try blowers first if I were you.

Don't short change him. He should be able to get around 3700.

Tried blowers, they came back at £6500 which seems low? Hence the post TBH.

I got offered £7k for my well loved 2015 model a few weeks back.

Reckon you are looking at getting the RRP as a bare minimum.

All you need to do is ring a few dealers, which you will have to do anyway. So why yet another thread just about money. It starts to read like 'watch traders gazette.'

There's a reason that the WF ones are sitting around. I reckon a good price is in the region of RRP.

Thanks for all the sensible comments so far, I have actually contacted a few dealers before posting here. I have had a quote back from blowers at £6500 which I thought was low and am waiting to hear from Chronext and Watchfinder.

I was simply asking what prices other members had been offered since the model was discontinued, for reference?

I have been around long enough to appreciate the forum and it's members knowledge.

Watchfinders were offering between 7000 & 7500 two weeks ago for a new one with stickers. Don't know why the variation as new is new?

So they can give you hope with the higher estimate then disappoint you when it's the lower one.

I allowed £8250 for it against the boxster, that was based on the online prices being asked and the fact we wanted the car to go to a good home. Hence my surprise at blowers offer and the reason for this post.

WF have come back with an offer of £8000-£8250 upon inspection, which looking at the comments seems much more realistic, so looks like the wife will get her new car and I wont be too red faced.

I'd give £7.5k for. a fully stickered SD4k, but that'd be my limit for a long term investment. Anyone selling, let me know.... :)

Think I might be selling my 2016 SD4000 after a re-jig of my collection. Taking stock of the market/pricing and then will see what the interest is.

Watchfinder paid me £8K 4 weeks ago (having initially offered £7250) for a one month old, unworn but sized and de-stickered one.

Supply and demand I guess, and they have the ability to control the market to a certain extent.
First week of December last year the Rolex AD in Bluewater had one in the window, everyone on their 'list' had flaked. I checked Watchfinder prices and I think they were selling at about £8250. then.
Saw one again (with a D-blue DSSD) in the window of the Rolex AD in Reykjavik in February this year.
Post Basel and it's suddenly a hot watch, don't get me wrong, it's a lovely watch and a better place for your money than the bank!

I just missed out on this SDc4000 from a Singapore dealer at S$11800 which at today's FX rate is GBP 6717.

8 grand might be a little optimistic.

I get the impression that Watchfinder are trying to control the market and pricing now. They can afford to sit on them for a while to see how the market plays out.

Must admit, I did the same a while back with some specialist antique pieces...

All the Singapore Ad's won't budge on rrp $13995 now. They can't have many left.

Allegedly they are so hot in the US people beg to buy them. For some odd reason.

So what's the UK landed cost? Not far off the UK market rate of £7,500-£8,000 I'll wager

You can claim about 6.1% back leaving Singapore though.

Sure David, but still the buy at £6700 will never end up being £6700 unless you (or a friend/family member happy to bring a high value item back) happen to be in Singapore to collect no?

And personally I would always feel happier at that sort of value (and above) with a very well known seller/face to face purchase.

Very odd. I'm struggling to convince myself it's even a £7.5k watch never mind £9k+

Me too. Well, I was actually struggling to convince myself that it was a 6.9k watch when they were widely available before price increase last year and I almost pulled a trigger on one. It's like a sub that isn't a sub that feels slightly clunky and I think the market at the time knew that pretty well (they were losing 20% if you were to sell one to a dealer brand new).

I would rather have its predecessor the 16600, the SDc always looked good in photos with the 60 min markers on the insert, but when I saw one in a shop window before the madness set in, I just stood there for a few mins looking at it and it left me cold, I couldn't even bring myself to go in the shop and ask to see it.

So if I turned my nose up at £6.5k, I certainly wouldn't entertain the crazy prices being asked now.

Funny how opinions vary. I bought a 126600 a week ago to add to the SD4000c. Guess which one remains?!

I've had 2 SD4K's in quick succession which have both gone, I'm now back to a 16600 with an SD4K bracelet on it and I much prefer the more balanced, older traditional look of the trit SD.

    Rolex sea dweller SD4000

Has there been any alteration in the market on the SD4k.
I was offered £7200 for a brand new unworn one about 3 weeks ago by Watchfinder.
It seems to me that the list price for a 2016 has gone up to £9450 (max) on their website which gives then a rather healthy £2250 margin.

I've pm'd you as I'm looking for an SD4k as a long term safe queen. Then I'll sell my worn one and wear the 43.

Would WF be at all negotiable on their price to bring down the obvious sell price disparity?

Do you have history or experience of buying from this site? As I have family in SGP and was thinking of buying some bits there.

Hi Skyman. I see the new version 216600 (sic) on your post in a Friday thread in August - did you get another?

Anway - all said you prefer the SD4K right?

I am very tempted to change my 126600 for a 116600. Since trying on tiny73's I just think its such a complete and well rounded watch. That said though I still haven't worn my SD43!

I'd trade you for my four-month-old SD4K for your 43, but you sound like you don't dive and I REFUSE to deal with such posers.

Is someone who noisily announces that they'll only trade dive watches with people who dive not something of a poseur themselves?

With any luck you're just another of our resident troll's socks, and not for real. Looking at your posts, you're entertainingly fixated with people diving with their dive watches. You should have a catchphrase, the equivalent of Do you even lift, bro?

Quite right I do pose as a diver for about 2 days a year (on holiday with my PADI) but Im certainly no saturation diver.

Probably going to trade my GMT BLNR for a SDc4000 anyway ;-)
