Can't believe you didn't get it matthew... After all those south American magical realists...
Good luck everybody. Have a good one.
Jorge Luis Borges?
Ah, put me out of my misery...
It had better not be Salman Rushdie.
Indeed. One of my two favourite authors in my late teens/early twenties. borges was one and bukowksi the other. I'm going to cough the twenty anyway, because as borges would have said, just because no one got it right in this universe, who is to say that someone didn't guess it correctly in another.
Good luck everybody. Have a good one.
Darn, I actually bought 'Fictions' last week...
The absolute least that I can do is put your name on four more tickets, Dave. That was most enjoyable, thanks.

Been having fun with my virgin giving account, sorted now so a donation from me, too.
Found that I am able to do another small donation £10 sorry it's so little but at the moment it's my limit
The support for this has been absolutely brilliant. Laura has been busy folding up tickets and giving them a good mix but there are still a few hours left to chuck some more in!
My strategy is to spread out my tickets as evenly as possible, so I'm buying them in small batches. I'll have six more if I may please.
P.S. Lovely phone you have there. How is the Colombian phone grid? Does it work?

That's excellent, the tickets are folded and in the tub!
The 312L telephone does work, it has a lovely ringing bell tone which only functions if the socket it is connected to has a bell capacitor fitted. Our 'land line' here comes in via cable internet and we very rarely use it due to the advent of IP telephony so I haven't got round to making an adaptor but it's one of many future projects.
Cheers. I used to have a similar phone, a beautiful L. M. Ericsson. Alas, they modernised the phone centrals so that analogue impulse is not functional anymore. I'm glad I didn't buy the Ericsson Cobra I then coveted.
I worked on some lovely Ericsson exchanges around 25 years ago.
The only way I can see around it here is by using an ATA which in theory should give the required DC and dial tone and convert the analogue transmission.
Heading rapidly towards last orders now. Any more for any more?

I really wish that I had prizes for all of the participants. This has raised far more than we anticipated and the support has been just tremendous. Thanks to all and I'll be in touch with the winners.
Congratulations to all the winners and especially to Laura for a great result! I'm proud that I got to participate.
Wow,
Didn't expect that. Really chuffed and will enjoy configuring my prize. Will be sure to show it off here once it arrives.
It will be very special to me, I know that much already. Laura's story truly touched me as a cancer survivor myself and now a father of twin girls just approaching their 7th birthday.
So, so pleased that the wonderful people of this forum helped to raise so much money for this too! This kind of post and the amazing response to it is what keeps me engaged with this place.
Thanks to Mr Curta and Laura too.
Congratulations to the winners.
Nice to be involved in another charity thing on here and well done guys !!!
Plus a new strap is always a bonus🤗🤗
Chris
I'm stunned! I never expected this. I was happy to contribute to a cause I felt I could support with all my heart. Thank you, I'll wear it with pride.

Ok, this configuring malarkey is more difficult than I thought. On a first pass through all of the options I was pretty convinced that what I'd selected couldn't be bettered. But then I tried again, and again, and again.
If these screen grabs post on the order I did them I reckon it's down to 1 or 3. But then maybe not, maybe I'll just try again from scratch!
Fairly settled on the second hand, main hand style and probably PVD case - everything else is more fluid.
Think I'd better keep playing...

Be careful, some of the options are easy to miss. I tried several versions, but it took a pic of another member's watch before I realised you can have print on the dial. Might have missed something else too.

Considering how many watches I have and have had I have never bought straps from either of these two???!!! I really wish I had as they look superb!!!!
Struggling to decide which strap for which watch??
I'm thinking a strap for my original blue faced analogue Breitling Energency as it's only on a bracelet but always thought it deserves another option?
Oh decisions decisions it's a hard life🤗🤗
Chris
Ps I'm not sure Ive ever won anything ??

Thank you, Matthew, for organising this. I'm very chuffed with my prize.
Thanks again Matthew! My girlfriend and I came up with this design (both our initials are on the dial):

Oh, they're definitely both keepers 😁 Don't worry, I'd rather the money went to Children with Cancer.

That's great mate!!
To be honest the crappy phone pic really doesn't do the strap justice and I had always been someone who bought various straps from places but never thought much of them really, this strap in person is the perfect match and it's the first time anyone has mentioned the Emergency whilst I've been wearing it?!?
I think it now gives it that look and feel of quality over the in your face comparison of the polished bracelet it comes with?!??
This is definately gonna make me wear it more now and has indeed taken over from my 16800 since the strap arrived!!!
Thanks again!
