    Vintage Seiko Gold Tuna?

Been pondering looking for one for a while - lots of resources on the web on the model history and variances - any personal experiences folks?

Any to avoid or particularly look for?

    TIA

I would avoid any that need to much work as parts for some of the tuna's are scares to find.

I would avoid any with damage to the Ceramic Black Shroud, as you can't get replacements, but apart from that they are great watches to own. Are you after the 600m or 1000m?

    Lots of info here

I have a 1999 golden tuna and love it. As said above spare parts seem to have shot up in price so worth bearing that in mind if there is damage to any watch you look at it. I like the watch for its unique design and innovation heritage. But they are pretty chunky (more so than the 300 metre Tunas) so I find I don't wear mine much since I work in an office. Now the warm weather is here I will probably wear it more outside work since I don't need to fit it under a sleeve!

A Tuna is never wrong, it's pretty much the nr1 WIS-tell. I have had several models and they differ some in design and size. The 300m all have screwdown caseback so pretty easy to swap crystal on those. The 600m and 1000m all feature titanium case which makes them very comfortable despite the larger size.

I currently have the 1000m 7c46 above, I like the fact that it has gold accents (tritium nitrate) and tritium. Every model has it's advantages, the best one but less charming is imho the latest version of the 300m tuna, the SBBN031.

not a fan of those tuna hands by Seiko though I have the 001. I rather like the 014 new model

Apologies for going besserwisser here but I think that should be Titanium nitride (TiN).

    And yes, awesome watches!

Yes, lovely. Wish I'd grabbed one years ago (yeah that old chestnut) but I think it's only in the last year or so they've really grown on me.
