    125cc scooter advice..... mot etc

So a friends son has one that hasn't been used in ages
    63 plate needs an mot

He's too lazy to take it as now has a car

    Need room in the garage

    Questions;

Can the garage collect it for mot as it's not insured?
Can he get one day insurance to take it?
    It's sorn

Such a shame as just dead money sat there imo

I've never ridden one but would be fab or any commuter

Based in Hinckley Leics if anybody is bike wise or knows any decent local bike place that could help

I'm sure I can sell it for him afterwards

    The youth of today.....

Some will collect in a van, but if insured it can be ridden (directly) to the test centre. There'll be loads of bike MoT places nearby.

It needs to be a booked MOT test and can be SORN and still ridden to the MOT (as you can't tax without MOT) but it does need to be a booked test and as mentioned directly ridden there.

And insurance is still required, the exemption to take any vehicle to a pre-booked MoT is purely in relation to its tax status (and implicitly its MoT)

Stick it in the back of a Transit van and take it to the MOT centre? Solves all the tax/insurance issues.

Can someone else ride it on their own (other vehicle) insurance?

Must be insured if you ride to the garage.
SORN is fine as long as the garage have taken your REG number and booked you in for an MOT.
My garage collects locally in a van for cash drink. Some will collect if you are having a service and an MOT.

Ring the insurance company and ask their advice .....my Vespa 125 is 55 pounds to insure for 12 months so even if you have to do that it isn't going to break the bank .. get it insured, book an MOT and your away
