Easier to restore it from your backup.
In the process of trying to get my Sonos library to match iTunes my entire iTunes library has disappeared!
Is there any way to restore my iTunes library, including my carefully curated playlists, from my iPod?
Has anyone ever used an app like iRip or SharePod to do this?
Thanks in advance.

Whoever does not know how to hit the nail on the head should be asked not to hit it at all.

If you have a Mac then you want to get PhoneView. It allows an iPod to be mounted and read as an external hard drive, and you will be able to extract all the audio tracks from it. As far as the playlists go, you're looking for the itl files.
Sonos is unlikely to have deleted your iTunes library though. If you're on a Mac let me know.
Yep, not backed up unfortunately. I couldn't find my playlists so Sonos advised me to make sure the XML file was gone from any locations added to the Sonos music library. Now I can't restore it.
How did you rip it off your phone? Some recommend Senuti but I'm using windows.
I asked about this on the forum recently and was given some very helpful advice: http://forum.tz-uk.com/showthread.ph...ht=iPod+itunes
Update: I installed iRip but whenever I try to run it I keep getting an error message:"iTunes mobile device.dll could not be loaded. It appears that the apple mobile device support is either not installed or not responding". I have made sure that it is installed and running but keep getting the same error. Any ideas what to do?
Restore from you backup? ;-p
Sorry, I have used iPod agent successfully in the past, perhaps this may help.
As would details, such as what os & type of iPod etc.

If you've deleted the xml, you've only lost the library meta data (playlists and stuff) not your actual music. Look on your hard drive to see where the music is then point iTunes to that path.
