Does it have to be in the UK, or would you consider further afield, where stock mightn't be as suppressed?

I guess what I'm asking is:

    Hahaha, top marks!

Great point though. I can get you one at a moment's notice over here in Singapore for SGD12k (roughly GBP6.7k) from a grey dealer or BNIB privately.

    I'd do that then.

I found one within 10 days. Only called 2 AD's. Stick at it. If you want I can ask the AD when I collect mine this weekend, and get the nod on the next (which I will pass to you). I have a good relationship with my AD and they don't operate with a waiting list. They reckon waiting lists attract a lot of time wasters.

I was in Mappin & Webb last year and they had 3 come in that day. Why bother maintains lists when you can sell them in a day, as they did!

I find calling is not as effective as visiting. Some ADs these days have mandates to sell to locals or at least told to prioritise over phone enquiries for popular models.

Unfortunately I've found that visiting leads to smirks and tales of four to ten year waiting lists.....

I am sure that is true.

They are cropping up. I am out of the UK at the mo. If my order comes in to my local and preferred AD by mid June, you can have first dibs on the one I picked up a few weeks ago, full set and still in the coffin case. Price would be RRP, but I would like you to stick a donation in the fundraiser.

I know this won't help much, but a friend flew out of T4 yesterday (not with BA before you ask) and spotted a BLNR. They are super rare there apparently, but they do come.

When I got mine a couple of years ago I only had my name on the waiting list for a couple of weeks, might be worth placing your name on some lists.

When I started looking for one of these in January I put my name on lists with my 3 most local, unconnected ADs. The nearest one I then visited a few times to look at other watches and bought a strap from them for a Breitling. They got to know me, knew I was local and was a serious buyer, and I was fortunate that I got a call after 7 weeks and picked one up in March.

The 2 ADs I didn't build a relationship with have never got back to me. It doesn't feel like coincidence that the AD I got to know best was the one I ultimately got a call from. Ringing around ADs asking for a watch in short supply and putting your name on dozens of list may work, but building a relationship with a good independent is far more fun, and likely to have long term benefits too.

I've been looking at a BLNR. WoS Royal Exchange were extremely snooty and said they only have closed waiting lists at the moment for popular models. Needless to say I am not likely to go back. Watch Gallery in covent garden much more helpful although they have told me to expect a 6 month wait.

If anyone knows about a BLNR or Hulk (not the one at Fattorini!) let me know!
