    Postcode lottery - Invite

Bit of an odd one this but I received an invite from the 'people postcode lottery' this morn inviting me to my local hall on the 3rd June as my postcode has won and the 3 million prize draw is going to be shared out on the day.
I have been playing the PPL for a few months now and only won £10 so at first I thought it was a load of rubbish however I have been sent a wrist band for entrance plus they are calling me to arrange details.

Has anyone on here had this? Is it worth going to or just a load of marketing rubbish where I will get £50 or something daft?

The venue they have booked is very prestigious which has me thinking there must be something in it.

It sounds like you're going to be getting one of those big cheques in a big envelope.

They are a legitimate organisation so there's no reason to believe it's anything other than genuine.

Time to get a PP ordered?

Was the envelope gold or red 'foil'?

My Mum was invited to one of these at the local park....

Gets there and it's all banners and bunting and stuff and she comes over all "Ooh I can't do that!"

So she rang them and explained that she got nervous and stuff and with no further ado they sent her a cheque for over £30K in the post!!

    Good luck to you mate!!

    Gold envelope.

Film crew plus photographers etc will be there, if I dont want to be on film then it says just keep out of the their way.
It does state I am a guaranteed winner just need to see how much.

I would be happy with anything but by the sounds of it there could be quite a lump sum!!

There is 3million shared out between what I presume is my postcode, having looked on their site there is a lot of properties under that bracket. Probably 100-150, do you know if they share it equally?

    It's all stated here - https://www.postcodelottery.co.uk/about-us/faq

You've won in the £3m bracket which means it's shared per ticket. So if you have two tickets you'll win twice as much as your neighbour with one ticket. So I don't believe number of households playing would give you an accurate estimate.

The story above was probably one of the Saturday or Sunday draws where you win a flat £30k regardless.

    Edit: congratulations you jammy...

The 3 mill prize is given to a postcode sector, which is the first half, plus the first number of the second half, e.g SW1W 0, PO16 7, GU16 7, L1 8, CV1 4 etc, not the full postcode. Every player from that sector will be invited along, as you have, then a full postcode drawn on the day, if your full postcode gets drawn, you win a big lump shared between you £100k or so per ticket you hold, if not, you get a smaller prize of a few grand, depending how many players in your sector

Should be well over £1k, with a chance of the big one

The last 4 3mill draws the prizes have been £245k/£2k, £240k/£8k, £234k/17K, £187k/£5k, that's per ticket, so if you chose to buy 2 or 3 per month (do you pay £10, £20 or £30?), then you can multiple that up

    Good luck!!
Don't tell us if you win, cos we'll know your full home postcode and can come and steal all the new watches you buy

According to the website it's a Billingham Postcode Sector - TS22 5 - sharing the jackpot.

TS22 5 contains 3825 residential properties and around 265 individual post codes
So you have a 1 in 265 chance of winning the big one

I think the way it works is that every registered player in that sector gets an equal share of the £3m for each subscription they have.

BT how many houses in how many of the postcodes play the lottery?

And how many houses in your exact postcode play because the jackpot is split between the number of tickets in the winning postcode?

No, they draw a full postcode on the day, all the players in that postcode get a big payout, everyone else in that sector gets a small payout

I dont think we can get that figure but to be honest I dont think its too common in my area, between myself, partner, her parents and mine we dont know any body else who plays.
Im hoping maybe 100 or so people would be about right? The TS22 5 area isn't big.

Either way anything is better than nothing & fingers crossed its my postcode winning the big one as I live in a small cul de sac so probably not many (if any) doing it.

Actually, your chance is way better than 1 in 265, as only postcodes that play are entered into the draw, so it's fair to assume a fair chunk of those 265 post codes contain only business premises or residential homes where no one plays.
Reckon it's a dead cert, exciting stuff

The postcode area is a modern estate with some large and very large houses. Not many businesses in the area.

Without sounding big headed it's a nice estate with many footballers, directors of some major companies etc which I think (could be wrong) are unlikely to play, I only started three months ago on a complete whim when sat in bed at night messing about on the iPad, I've since won £10 then this.

Fingers crossed I am lucky and get the big money!

    Thanks again everyone

Hmm, might be worth leaving someone at home while you're gone, no better way of ensuring a house is empty (and can be burgled) than to invite everyone living there to somewhere else with the chance to win some money.

Surely I can't be the only one who wants to know if the OP received £1, £100,000 or had his house burgled while he was standing in a park. Update required OP!

Yeah I will update once I get my cheque!

There has been a Facebook group created by someone in the area for the winners, basically to chat and they have arranged to have a drink in the local after the presentation which is good.
So far only 15 members, I know there will be more but I am hoping there isn't hundreds on the day!

Yes only two more days. Judging by the amount of responses locally and the size of the venue I am expecting there to be around 200-250 people there. If tickets are similar amount we could be looking at £6000 or so minimum win.

Unless we get the big one which I am hoping for of course!

Sorry for the late reply, it was....£2976!
Still cant complain considering it cost me £20, good day on the drink afterwards yesterday.. Over all very happy (& slightly hungover).

The big 150k win is a few roads down from mine unfortunately! Ah well.
