Petzl is a good shout
Good luck everybody. Have a good one.
Simple thing. I've had a rice cooker since first year at uni when it bought it from some outgoing Singaporeans.
It hasn't missed a beat in well over twenty years. It doesn't have a brand that i can identify but it makes perfect rice every single time.
A grinder. Buy a grinder and learn how to use it and sharpen your knives. It might only get an hour's use a year, but the £40 is worth it to have perfect cutting tools for ever.
Not a tool as such unless chewing everything in sight is required, but after years of wanting but having to admit it was not practical we finally got a dog two weeks ago and life is now infinitely better!
Snap on 1/4 drive flex head long ratchet, an invaluable tool
Obviously 1/4 drive sockets are needed
Victorinox cybertool - always carry it, as a penknife it's got me out of numerous minor scrapes.
A 6" adjustable spanner, unbelievable how often this gets used.
A Fisher space pen, never stops working whatever the weather
Noise cancelling change the way one travels.

1. Submariner
2. Cambridge Audio DacMagic XS
3. Bose Soundlink Mini
4. Anker battery pack
5. Swiss Army Knife
I wish i'd bought a decent sack barrow twenty years ago
Good luck everybody. Have a good one.
Struggling come up with 5
Swiss army Knife, no idea what model, bought in Switzerland about 45 years ago still going strong.
Milwaukee M12 1/4'' cordless ratchet
Ryobi One Plus reciprocating saw
Vintage S T DuPont, a great lighting tool, and very tactile.
Best buy for ages - £15 from gearbest one christmas an Olight S15R. Rechargeable, lithium battery, cree LED. I use it for everything from finding the cats to working on the car. Neat USB/docking station charging system . I've treid and tried to get more but nothing usually and nothing under £50!
Leatherman Wave.
Leatherman TTi
LED Lenser Torch
Milwaukee 18v Impact Wrench
Salomon GTX Boots
Macbook Air
When you look long into an abyss, the abyss looks long into you.........
Another vote for decent kitchen knives - Global in my case accompanied by a minosharp sharpener. I also cant live without a Victorinox potato peeler; cheap and very effective.
A snow foam lance for washing the car - great fun especially when the kids are helping.
I have a Wenger Office tool, which is a sort of cross between a stapler and a Swiss knife. The development costs were reputed to have bankrupted Wenger but its a ridiculously useful thing to have in the work bag.
And, of course, one of those mini-clock things that you attach round your arm.
1. A thing you regularly use that makes your life better: A nice dunoon fine bone china mug for cups of tea.
2. The design of this particular example is exceptionally good in your opinion without being crazy expensive. I bought an Alfine 8 Shimano hub for the bike I commute to work on and it's more than paid for itself - a perfect workhouse and so much more practical than cassettes; particularly if you have a short commute and can live with the weight penalty. They've moved on quite a bit now - 11 speed ones and Di2 integrated ones.
3. You wished someone had told you about it years ago so you didn't waste time on inferior versions. A Chartered Clinical Psychologist. Had the general accumulation of ups and downs in life and it really helped having someone objectively help me take stock.
4. You will likely use it for the rest of your life. Skyr Yoghurt; lovely stuff.
5. If you lose it, you'll buy another one immediately without hesitation. Pilot NAMIKI Fountain Pen Capless Vanishing Point Yellow JAPAN.
Have just stumbled across this thread and feel it needs resurrected; I’ll add the Bahco Laplander folding saw.
