Dreadful. Now on the BBC news website but no further information.
Fatalities now confirmed. Reports of at least one suicide bomber but likely two near the Box office on the Victoria Train Station side. This makes sense as security is generally tight and they would have found it hard to get past this point. Happened at the end of the concert. These people are f***ing sick.
You can now donate to help the affected families here:

Just can't believe it. Full of children.
That's horrible. There are no words.
19 people dead
Concert full of kids.
What the hell do these bastards think they will achieve.
RIP the poor kids and others.
Most distressing news to come home to this evening. My thoughts are with all those affected in any way.
Sick, shameless scum of the earth, targeting defenceless children and teenagers, this just about sums up their mentality, and their beliefs, sad.
What terrible news. An act of cowardice.
Someone who lies about the little things will lie about the big things too.
What awful news to wake up to, I'm in Manchester with work right now, at Old Trafford stadium for a exhibition today, only about 3 miles from the Arena.
Grim scenes on the news just now. Poor sods.
Cheers..

It's hard to find the right words to say about this.
My thoughts are with everyone involved.

Bloody Hell. Awful.
What utter tossers! Targeting a room full of defenceless people, the majority of which would have been kids.
Scum
Sick. No other words
Sad, terrible news to wake to. My thoughts are with the victims' families.
Bloody horrible news to wake up to.
Apparently it's the 4th anniversary of the slaying of LEE Rigby.
I wonder if it's been timed to co-incide with that date?
RIP all victims.
What a F@*#ed up world we live in! Targeting the youth makes this even more appalling. My thought are with those and their families caught up in this.

Terrible. To deliberately target a concert where there are going to predominantly be families and kids is incomprehensible.
Good point, is there anyone on the forum give any reasoned explanation as to what these people are trying to achieve (if anything)? It must be glaring obvious to all but the thickest of them that their actions appear to have no ongoing serious effect either here or in Europe. They appear to have no stated aims so there is no room for discussion or negotiation with them as in the case of, say , the IRA.
It could be argued that they are trying to turn communities agaist each other but that doesn't seem to work in general.
It makes their exercise totally pointless apart from intelligence services more determined to continually take out the leaders of various terrorist organisations (life expectancy seems to be about 18 months nowadays).
So, what is their point?
^ terror is there point, fear and intimidation.
I have been sadly expecting such a terrible incident like this for a while . I'm from Liverpool and I'm genuinely sorry for the lives lost as I have a 14 year old daughter who attends concerts. If it's true and it is terrorists- how long before smaller Towns and cities are targeted?

Can you imagine this happening at a Beatles concert, cliff gig or even a backstreet boys or steps concert. A true reflection of the times we are in
Dystopian future is my present

Two things in the quote above, so two points in my short (hopefully not glib) reply.
1 - the elimination of the middleground, the removal of any kind of continuum. By attacking the West they hope to provoke an (over-)reaction that will radicalise more moderate communities. They want a dichotomy between the West and Islam, no dialogue, no conciliation. This fuels their ranks and makes their job easier.
2 - Are you sure? I would have thought that the rise of the far right and fear politics across Europe and in the US is a sign that the actions of extremists are having an effect. This ties back to my point #1.
My points still stand, I think, even if the Manchester bombing last night turns out to have a different perpetrator.
There cause is there point - which to me gaining brownie points with some god that thinks killing is acceptable only starts my lunatic radar buzzing - that to me is mentally ill justifying death and righteousness in the name of a belief

Qatar-wil is pretty much got it right. The breakdown of races and communities is the gain here plus justifying more political involvement to invade and conquer said terrorists countries . All with an end game in my opinion. Maybe I've got it wrong. Would anyone feel any better with a wild, lone, lunatic doing this with no affiliation or a disgruntled Arianna grande fan. No but at least the terror factor is reduced slightly. In some bad that it's random and not planned terror likely to happen again.
I hope no forum members here are family or themselves victims of this tragedy

R4 just interviewed a mother whose daughter and her friend were missing. The lad was located in hospital less than an hour ago...her daughter is still missing. She dare not go out in case her daughter tries to contact her. That, to me, is an unimaginable torment. Here's hoping for her...

We bought our daughter a ticket so she could attend with her best friend, first time concert, new clothes, plenty of money in her pocket for merchandise and whatever she wanted to treat herself too.
She'd been looking forward to it since last year and her and her best mate looked beautiful, proud dad photos etc, dropped her off and arranged to collect her.
Called her and she was slightly panicked, said that they'd had to leave through a different exit but not to worry.
She and her friend are safe, but those who's kids aren't going home? Utterly heartbreaking, grotesque.
GMP have confirmed that they suspect a suicide bomber who died at the scene.
its disgusting.
My daughter went to one of her concerts last Thursday in Birmingham, it was full of kids, now having been to a few gigs recently aimed at the youth there was a much higher concentration of unescorted youngsters than at any of the others.
Targeting those who cannot defend themselves is just wrong. Acts like this will not do there cause any favours.
Terrible news and all starting to become the norm. With America working with the likes of ISIS in Syria etc where does it actually leave us in dealing with these acts and so called terror groups?
Listening to R4 this morning, there are still parents looking for their children. One mother said she'd found her daughter's friend in hospital but no sign of her own daughter. Horrific.
Terrible news. When will this sort of thing end
Hopefully one of the many good people of Manchester took the missing daughter in. Truly appalling and I'm sickened and horrified for the parents and people who are dead .

I just can't imagine what they're going through. They went to a concert, that's all.
To the person who asked me not to stigmatise mental illness, I certainly would never do that. I have that very close to my heart anyway; to suggest there's something not wrong with these people in that way makes no sense to me though, sorry.
Really sad situation and as a parent a nightmare
Prayers for all involved
