Achieved more in 35 years than most of us will do in a lifetime (myself more than included). Gutting.
Just heard this terrible news, he had a cycle accident and died from the resulting injury.
Really sad.

I am gutted, so sad
What a shame, and at such a young age too.
Such a shame! Always one of my favourite riders and I'll miss watching him race and seeing his enthusiasm for the sport.
Sad sad news.
It's just a matter of time...
What the others said. It makes it even more sad knowing that he died as a result of non high speed related accident. Just taking your bike for a trip and never returning... so sad.
Tragic news. :(
RIP
Really terrible news and a big loss for the world of motorsport.
Very sad - a real hero and a good man. He will be greatly missed by everyone in the motorcycling community. Thoughts are with his family and friends. When I heard of the accident I was sure he would pull through, even if he never raced - sadly this wasn't to be. Hard to believe he's gone
Sad news, and resulted from a bicycle after years of motorbike racing :(

Really sad. Great rider and seemed like such a decent bloke as well.
A very sad day indeed. RIP Nicky. A great MotoGP rider and true gent of the paddock taken too soon.
Just so very sad...a mate & I met him in Paddock (where i had been kindly given tickets by the Wheatcrofts) at Donington where he signed my visor...i still have in cabinet at home - lovely guy... gone in a stupid bicycle accident... RIP #69 🏍🏍🏍🏍 wearing my Tissot Hayden Edition today as a tiny insignificant tribute...

It was Nicky's riding that first got me interested in MotoGP, and my lid is one his one colour schemes. What a terrible way to go.
His title win in 2006 will, like him, remain legendary.
Very sad - a brilliant rider lost far too early
