    Caseback Removal

Before I start work on refuRbing this Seiko 7546-812A, does anyone know how I can remove the back. As you can see by my pic it has only the one recess for a tool.

Can you push the recessed bit in? I had some digitals with battery hatches that did that but there were usually two points to push.
    Cheers..

It's the small gap above the battery hatch.

Yeah, that's what I was talking about, does it push in or is it a cut out in solid metal like in a normal screw down case back ?
    Cheers..

    Is it a snap-on back?

I have just found that out, how embarrasing. Never too old to learn. Many thanks for the help lads.

I've just been given one of these as a non runner but I'll be damned if I can get the back off. Is there a knack? The recess seams minuscule.

That notch on the caseback is to allow you to line up the back with the corresponding mark on the case when you refit it, so the battery hatch is in the correct position.

Hi, thanks for reply. Sorry should have been a bit clearer, I'm not referring to the little square shape notch, more a slight recess, barely thick enough to get a blade into, not even sure if it is supposed to be there. Could be where various ham fisted peeps have tried to get into it in the past using inappropriate tools...

Anyway I persevered last night and eventually got the back off. Was expecting to see discolouration etc from battery vapour / leak, but it was as clean as a whistle. So, not sure why it isn't ticking away merrily with the new battery...???
