£4100. UK was strangely cheapest in the world even after inclusion of VAT so this may get snapped up by a Euro or US buyer. That said the seller's 10 history may put many off, it would me.

It's an auction but will be interesting to see what the free market value these at

Stock photos and a low usage account that hasn't been used in a year - it will be interested to see what it goes for - the winner is likely to offered a discount for a bank transfer...

Just out of interest what was the RRP on these and did everyone have to pay duty? Or were they shipped from Switzerland for UK buyers?

They're shipped to whatever country you request and you pay the local price there in that local currency including taxes.

And for the third time in the thread, UK RRP is £4,100 inc VAT. Distribution is being handled locally by ADs and boutiques.

£6050. Possibly more if some of those bidders with zero feedback get involved.

Ah! But he uses genuine twice in one sentence - always a good sign to me:

This is a genuine sale by a genuine watch collector/investor.

Asked at the Omega boutique if I could pick one up if reservations don't translate to actual sales.

Apparently they cannot be sold to other customers and require to be returned if not taken up.

Bizarrely, I think I've met the chap selling, at Le Mans. Iirc he has the same username on one of the car forums, drives a black Cayman with martini stripes.

Q: Hi, I wanted to just check with you.. Have you already picked up your speedytuesday from the London AD? I wasn't sure from the description if the winning bidder has to be the one picking it up from your AD. Also I live in Melbourne, Australia, will you be happy to ship the item overseas even if I pay for the postage? Thanks and look forward to hearing from you. 28-Jun-17
A: Hi I am due to collect it either Friday or early next week but definitely before the auction ends, so you'll be able to see the receipt. I can send it anywhere in the World via FedEx.

How do people even list items with such high values on EBay with a non-business account ? Pretty sure my account is limited to items under £2k or something.

Ebay's limit restricts you from listing above the limit (starting price has to be lower), it doesn't restrict the auction to finish exceeding that limit.

@Ally - mine's not. Would be odd if it was - cars etc.

I doubt the buyer will be genuine at the end of this item, I suspect it's similar to lots of high end phones that seem to finish with winning bids from people with 0 feedback and then get relisted. Never understood it tbh but the paypal scam potential would put me off using paypal for a high value item.

Cheers and have seen that so should have been clearer in that I meant £4400 wasn't an issue. Limit is £5k so all good to list my ST starting at £4999.99 :).

Yes it is, he put this up shortly afterwards -

    "Calibre: Omega 1861
Famous manual-winding chronograph movement that was worn on the Moon. Rhodium-plated finish.
    Power reserve: 48 hours
    Type: Manual-winding"

He must be a 'genuine' watch collector before he forgot the famous manual winding movement was either a automatic or quartz

Everybody on the ST waiting list has a reason for nudging the bidding up on that

I wonder if anyone is keeping them. Surely all this buying to sell means if this is going to be a watch that sells for a premium, it is better to let the dust settle before selling.

£7k already; if it runs the distance, perhaps we'll be looking at five figures.

The second half of the ebay ID name seems strangely appropriate.

Anyone bidding £7K early on one of these on a week long auction is nuts. Yes there will be a premium over RRP, that much is pretty clear but how will the winning bidder feel if WF put one up for sale at, say £6,500 or a BIN pops up at £6K. Now this seems unlikely but I would be keeping my powder dry on any auction format example since a lot can happen in a week and there is nothing to be gained by bidding early. If as may occur there are 7 or 8 of these on by the end of the week then some lower BIN prices may be seen if only from chancers after a very quick buck.

Interesting that a genuine watch enthusiast and collector believed it to be quartz. I couldn't resist asking a question about this to see what he said.

Most people who bid will have no intention of buying. Expect to see it for sale for buy it now after the buyer backs out.

I actually picked up a swatch for buttons a while back on eBay because it was described as faulty because it wouldn't hold a charge for more than 36 hours if off the wrist...

After your heroic 120 posts in a week to reach SC posting rights, you could write to the mod asking for a little treat
