I agree, but I now like to brine my own Beef Brisket for 8 days and cook my own Salt Beef from scratch, served in a lightly toasted Bagel with Polish Mustard and Pickled Gherkins. It’s a game changer.

You only keep that colour using Sodium Nitrite (Prague Powder), which I believe is not very healthy, but its so damn tasty. Enjoy the moment.

I do the same it’s a wonderful sandwich.

If you end up with any leftovers I can recommend making a hash with mash & white & green onions, make into small patties in English muffins with some hp sauce.

I also make my own salt beef from time to time.
    The perfect sandwich filler.

I love a good sandwich shop!

Used to enjoy working in Vauxhall for Relish shop there, the commute less so. Never had a bad sandwich there & a treat to eat through a meeting with envious eyes of those who went to Pret!

Will be giving that sandwich a go for sure.

Layered between three slices of bread - smoked salmon and cream cheese, smoked bacon and mango chutney. Had it at a local cafe a few years back and it was delicious, so sometimes make at home. Bizarre but just works.

When I used to work in a hospital on the west side of Scotland’s central belt I used to frequently visit the WRVS (as it was then, now RVS) cafe for breakfast. Usually consisted of a sandwich, or bread roll, with a potato scone, black pudding on top of that, and a fried egg atop the lot.

    Still my favourite.

I'm a fan of cream cheese, bagel and lox,,,but would think that mature cheddar would completely overwhelm the salmon?

    Apart from eating the sandwich?

Ummm lost some weight, decided to put my house on the market after 23 years and never ever wanting to move, bought zero watches (bought my wife one but I don’t count that as I can’t wear it), had a holiday, decided more than ever that I don’t want to retire anytime soon, got into Yellowstone, lost a bit more weight. Now struggling not to put it back on - too many sandwiches you see :-)

Sometimes it's good to keep things simple. Ham and pease pudding with hot English mustard. Better of course with freshly boiled ham whose cooking water has gone into the pease pudding and broth you'd have it with in the winter months, but needs must, Durham Foods pease pud is an excellent stand by . . .

Any artisan bread* spread with ripe mashed avocado, and layered with sliced beetroot, a few green salad leaves**, sliced tomato and topped with tinned anchovies in olive oil; the artisan bread sandwich 'lid' buttered with REAL butter

    * preferably not in-house baked supermarket artisan bread which can be defrosted previously frozen dough – originally produced many months prior in a central distribution facility.

** preferably not iceberg lettuce – it's the least nutritious and most tasteless of all lettuces and was primarily bred / developed for its bruise resistant crate transport quality

Roast turkey, salt, freshly ground black pepper, cream cheese, cranberry sauce, butter and preferably a warmed baguette.

The first time I've ever come across someone els that likes PB & Cheese. My favourite sandwich. Never tried salt on it though, maybe not good for the old heart.

Rindless bacon with a slice of mature cheddar on top, on white toast with butter on it.

  31. #181
My go to comfort sandwich is a medium rare ribeye, left to rest, and then sliced thinly on the angle. Thick cut white fresh loaf, butter and then, depending on mood, either Dijon or Horseradish.

However….when in full dirty mode, grilled Bernard Matthews Hamwiches on buttered thick cut white fresh loaf.

…oh, and a corned beef and Branston toastie done in an old school toastie maker.

A fellow TZer recommended this to me:

    Nacho bagel or wrap.

Guacamole, nachos, tomato, spicy cheese, and black bean salsa.

I have mine on a Seeded bagel.

So many to choose from but you can't beat a classic basic crispy bacon on white bread with brown sauce.

My brother in law has a strange one though which is cheese and raspberry jam!

Saltbeef Beigel from Maureen’s Chrisp st market, a couple of stops from Canary Wharf by dlr.

Got mine as a deconstructed takeaway as I had a two plus hour journey before I’d eat it.

    Outstanding value @ £4.50.

The Beigels are fresh daily from the Brick Lane Beigel Bake, cheaper than there Saltbeef Beigel by some margin too!
