New 16710 arrival this morning to coincide with another recent new arrival.

Its been a hectic few weeks in our household.

Firstly we welcomed into the world our first boy, weighing in at 8lbs 6. Allow me to introduce. Race Kay. He didn't make it easy for himself or mum, he was a week and a half late and was not for coming out. Luckily everyone is on the mend now and life id returning to some sort of normality!

Before he was born I was looking for a 16750, something I can wear and give him in the future. Finding a 'full' set was harder than expected. Looked at lots or options with prices swinging from £6000 unto £10,000. Thought I had found a local one owner watch that was told was complete as he had owned it from new and bought it in 1984 from Blackpool. After a viewing, it was clear it was watch and certificate then a later box. Kept looking whilst doing the night feeds and yesterday found Marc J was selling a later K serial 2002 16710 complete set. Regret having sold my F serial a few years ago so after a couple of emails about details deal done and the watch is now here and on my wrist. Thanks Marc.

My favourite thing about this 16710 is the SEL and lug pin holes and it has service history.

If anyone has a Coke bezel they fancy selling I'd be very interested please send me a PM.

One think I have noticed instantly is the white gold surround on the circle hour markers are much narrower than any of my previous 16710's OR my 14060. The top triangle and the the 6 and 9 marker are much thinker and the same as other watches of this era!?!

    Comparison of my 2007 14060.

First test try on. Don't think he's overly bothered.

Great post, many congratulations on the new arrival - and the watch!!

The five digit Sports models are really taking off at the moment as people look to buy traditional pre ceramic models. Great choice.

Congratulations and great post. Judging by the last pic I think the bracelet definately needs resizing, its far too loose! Great pics.

Snap ! My first son was born last year and I got him a 16710 the day after. Excellent choice sir. Why buy him a new rolex when in 20 odd years he'll have a vintage coke. Will be the coolest watch in the office that's for sure. Congratulations !

I showed my 3 year old daughter my 16610lv the other day & told her it's a very expensive special watch & one day it would be hers. She didn't seem bothered either, saying " but I like my paw patrol watch best"
    Oh well.

    Many, many congratulations!

I hope both came with boxes and papers should you ever feel the need to sell them on and believe me when he reaches teenage years, you will! I speak from experience of such things! 👍😜

    Congrats.

My dad has a 90's 16700 Pepsi (full set from new), lovely looking watch even after years of daily use it still catches my eye when he's wearing it.

New 16710 arrival this morning to coincide with another recent new arrival.

    Double congratulations!!

And excellent choice - this is my absolute favourite watch.
FYI, this is my P serial (one year earlier than your K) also with SELs and lugholes, and the index surrounds do seem to be very slightly thicker (although I had to put on my super-thick specs to tell!). Also the 12 triangle does seem to stretch further beyond the 11:59 and 12:01 markers than yours.

I wouldn't worry about it though, rolex are notorious for mixing and matching parts, so it's entirely possible they came from different dial runs with slightly different specs.

Edit to include your pic for comparison:

Congrats! I'm sure he will enjoy the watch! Would be funny if he ever found this thread in the future.
