Any 36+ mm Rolex Sports SS model for less than £4500.
Rolex will continue to put prices up and punters will continue to buy them.
But look at them as zero cost owner watches rather than "investments"
I don't invest in watches although I have a fair number of them. I know that especially at the top end some people do invest and that the value of my collection has gone up. However if I was investing I would put my money in property or gold not watches as I could not trust my head to rule my heart.

Whoever does not know how to hit the nail on the head should be asked not to hit it at all.
Friedrich Nietzsche
I'd go for a Marcello C.
Because the name sounds like an eighties porn star, it will increase in value very fast.
Daddel.
Got a new watch, divers watch it is, had to drown the bastard to get it!
That is getting harder Andy, my 14060m was more than that this week, but condition is everything. Better to spend a bit more on a top condition example complete with box and papers than buying a bit of a dog because it is cheap.
I think before long your £4,500 will be closer to £5,500 - £6,000.
Thanks to all so far. I appreciate that there are some strong opinions re buying watches as an investment.
There aren't too many items you can buy that at least don't depreciate drastically as soon as you've paid for them. Gold, property and high-end watches being a few examples.
I bought my first Rolex, a SS 16200, in 1989 from Ernest Jones in Brierley Hill and it was my pride and joy for about 5 years until I foolishly sold it to fund a holiday. It was a crap holiday anyway.
I have owned a few Rolex, Tudor, Tag and Zenith models since then culminating in the GMT I have now which I funded from a bit of money left to me in 2001.
I also bought the previously mentioned premium bonds that have been the proverbial bone of contention since they dropped the minimum prize from £50 to £25. I used to get a win of £50 at least every couple of months. Now I'm lucky to see a £25 every quarter hence my desire to do something more rewarding with the cash. I suppose I could buy another gun or upgrade to a faster bike
As far as 'post count' goes I am happy to be able to view SC and WTB. If I climb the greasy pole to 250 all well and good but tbh I am unlikely to need to sell anything that I couldn't do elsewhere so i'm in no hurry.
I genuinely think this is one of the best forums/sites I contribute to and really enjoy the knowledge and expertise of other members.
Pits and pelts is a revelation, even the Mrs enjoyed it
for me a 16600 or 116600 if you can stretch
16600 is one of those pieces they got everything spot on IMHO and a pleasure to wear
and a steady riser
Then of course there's 16610 LV lovely thing Maxi dial is beautiful and for collectors a must have so prices will keep climbing.
+1......I sold my 16610 4 years ago and I wince at what I let it go for.
The last of the original-style case will always be sought after, we've seen values of the 16610 rise significantly. Whether that continues is open to debate, but I can`t see the prices dropping. Not sure I`d recommend watches as an investment, but a 16610 bought at sensible money will 'eat nowt'.....and that's good enough for me. The fact that you get to enjoy owning a super watch is an added bonus and for me it would compensate if the prices stayed flat for years.
Look for a nice clean example that hasn`t been overpolished, be sure all the links are present, and check that the bracelet isn`t worn out. If you're looking at investment it would make sense to get one with original box and papers.
Paul
All the boxes ticked Paul, bought this off Haywood this week.
This watch hasn't been touched, the circular swirls are still clearly visible on the four lugs. But importantly having worn several larger divers recently, this is just pure class. The size and thinkness is just right. It wears very comfortably and I have no desire to take the bracelet off. I am hoping this is the watch that stops my flipping. It has made an impression on me certainly.

Huh, I was mistaken. I had assumed the Nettuno was a glass back, certainly the description at Chronomaster suggested so and that's what I had seen elsewhere, but they do offer it with a solid case back. Why aren't people all over these?

And this spring, we are releasing the newest version of our classic Nettuno 3. The Nettuno has always been an award-winning classic dive watch and over the years, we introduced innovations based on customer feedback. Continuing this tradition, the new Nettuno 3 is sporting an all new black ceramic bezel inlay, a non-magnetic movement cover and solid steel case back, a helium escape valve (HEV), green luminous material on hands and markers and an all new stainless steel bracelet with polished center links.
We still have a few of the previous model in stock, so if you prefer the sapphire crystal caseback, the white superluminova or the colorful bezel inlays, please contact us right away and make sure to secure your favorite Marcello C. timepieces.
Nice.
Well as a Newbie I've enjoyed this thread.
Agree with all the SS Sports Rolex comments, decade on decade you will see a return.
Depends on what you want from your investment.
Like cars, property, cherished numbers you need to 'buy right'.
If it's all about the return you also need to know when to get in and when to get out.

Super example!
My 114060 is my daily wearer but I sometimes wish I had picked up a mint 2 liner 14060 a while back!
This will be an interesting read :)
