    SOTC 2017: 1 Spot Left

I have a dilemma. Get one more watch to fill the watch box, or just buy a bigger watch box....

Think i've reached a point with my collection where I have a watch for most occasions and one of each main watch type. That being said, I do still find myself trying to justify purchasing other pieces and selling others to fund it; then it dawns on me that I don't want to sell any of them. I do find that I wear the Aquanaut more than anything due to its lightness and comfort which has meant the JLCs and Rolex get very limited wear, almost making it a waste to keep so many watches unworn.

Curious about what others would do in my situation. What watch should fill the final spot in the box. Alternatively, which would you flip to potentially get one premium piece.

I have a story for most of the pieces, ranging from sentimental to pure impulse.

    Not in chronological order:
JLC Master Calendar - impulse purchase after receiving my sign-on bonus for my first graduate job. Unfortunately don't wear this as much as i'd like just due do it being too dressy for most occasions.
Patek Aquanaut - 26th birthday present to myself. Hands-down my favourite piece.
Tudor Black Bay Blue - pure impulse
Rolex Daytona - funny story on this one (at least it's funny in my head), had been given the brush off by most ADs, some not even deeming me worth of being on a waiting list, others quoting 7 year waiting lists. Went for a final hail mary and told an AD I was buying one that day either from them or from a grey dealer (even if I had to pay a premium), 5 minutes later they brought one out their safe and it was mine!
Zenith (model unknown) - got this one from a market stall in Italy. Have no clue about the model reference, history etc but just loved the look of it. the crown is unfortunately not original.
Longines Hydroconquest - gift from my father for my 21st birthday
JLC Tribute to Deepsea Chronograph - 23rd birthday present to myself
Rolex GMT Pepsi 16750 - my first flirtation with vintage Rolex. Love the matte dial and non-WG surround markers. 22nd birthday present to myself
Tudor Heritage Chrono - pure impulse

    Gone but not forgotten:
Omega Seamaster Pro - my first proper watch, stolen
Rolex GMT-C Black - my first Rolex, stolen
Tudor Black Bay Red - bought on my final day of University. Finished my final exam, drove to the airport, flew to Amsterdam to pick up the watch, flew straight back and then drove to work that evening! Regret selling this

Maybe something with a blue dial, like the blue Omega Aqua Terra?

An Explorer 1 might go well with that collection too, or an IWC flieger?

Oh, and buy a bigger watchbox ;) Seriously though, one more classy watch and you are more than sorted! Great collection.

One on the wrist, of course!

Unless you're Maradona. Then you have three.

I guess he means the space on your wrist while all the watches are in the box!

Love the JLC Deep Sea, absolute stunner, one of my favourites.

How about a birth year Datejust next?

Have long toyed with the idea of a birth year watch. Just a shame my birth year doesn't translate to matte & maxi dial Rolex sports models :(

Glad I'm not the only one who buys himself watches for his birthday.

fabulous watch collection. This my pure humble thoughts on what i would and which i would keep:

    JLC master calendar keep.
    Aquanaut keep.
    JLC deep sea keep.
    Daytona keep.
    Longines Keep.

The 2 tudor and the GMT and the zenith i would sell to fund 1 more piece. that could be something like a Blancpain Fifty fathoms in 40mm they just released, or a zenith 38.5mm heritage series they just announced, an iwc portuguese also.

    Haha definitely not just you!

Afraid my family are not in a position to keep up with my watch tastes!

    Nice collection.
You have many years of the hobby in front of you.
No needto rush into next purchase unless something catches your eye.

Lovely collection. If it were me, I would consider adding one gold super-formal piece - like a Patek Philippe Calatrava 3919 or maybe 5116. If budget was a fair bit more then a PP 5146J would be one I'd love to have but we are getting into scary money there! Depends on wrist size and tastes obviously, as well as £££.

Also, depending on taste and what wrist time you give these existing watches, but I'd be tempted to flip the Tudor BB and the Tudor Heritage chrono and get one really collectible Speedmaster Professional - if I had to have just one it would either be the Apollo 11 3569 or the Apollo 13 35955200. Again, it's obviously personal but I would have to have at least one Speedy in my collection.

I'd go for a GS or an interesting independent watchmaker, if the funds allowed.

A nice daily wearer like a Rolex Explorer would do a similar job to the PP but for those occasions when you did not want to wear such a cherished / expensive piece ? Lovely collection BTW !

How about a Seamaster Pro to replace the old one.

    Or: Speedy Pro.

Thanks for all the comments folks.

In answer to the above, I don't do anything special. Just work hard at what I do and cut out non-essentials so I can spend more on things I really enjoy, in particular watches!

I've toyed with the idea of a matte dial 5513 for a while, however, it's hard to find an original set at a reasonable price these days.

    Thank you!

Agree with most of what you said except for selling the GMT. Not sure I can bear to part with it, I love the patina on the plots!

What are your thoughts on the new SD50? Am tempted by that.
