You have to remember that Somali pirates are desperate and only paid something like $200 a pop to hijack the ship. I think it would take a certain mentality to be ok with killing someone like that.

So if people are desperate then they should be allowed to hold people hostage and make threats to kill?

I consider these people, who use weaponry up to RPGs, to be highly dangerous and would have no problem shooting at them.

Nobody, no matter how desperate has the right to take anyone hostage when all they are doing is going about their lawful business
