I liked the second one.
yes folks, are beloved memories of the eighties are under attack, with a new following that is in its infancy, 'New Retro'
check this lot out,
with a few oldy's in the remix/replay
I kinda like it :-)
Funny, this type of music came up on my recommended YT videos and I've been listening to some of this stuff for a few months now...
I hope I won't be afflicted. What's next ? The clothing ? The portable phone on your car ? The car itself ????
Hanging out with my totally rad friends...
Fantastic tip-off, soundood. If I had a "new jam", this would be it.

Unless I've missed something here, this isn't a new thing - Synth Wave and Outrun have both been a thing for a while ... Kavinsky, Electric Youth, College, Chromatics, Sally Shapiro, Mitch Murder, FutureCop etc there are several artists out there of which I have a bit, and I like it.
Crap, it most certainly is not.
Alphaville recently released new album, so, there was always appreciation for 80is style music.
And if you want a proper 80's insprired tune, get your lug holes round this

Edit - no idea why the video won't embed properly anymore - really annoying!!! I've copied the link into the video bit and nothing :-(

Thanks for all this, some great stuff. I didn't realise it had made such a comeback.
Made me think of this
Cool stuff, I like La Roux myself but that is possibly looked at as retro by others now...
Possibly, but I did enjoy when she joined Heaven 17 for the "Live at Abbey Road" BBC special.

80's cars have been increasing in value for some time.
That's about the only positive thing coming from that era...

Music-wise, it all stopped with Jan Hammer's Miami Vice theme...
I think we're due an 80s revival. It's been the "uncool decade" for a while now, but it's not that long ago that the 70s was the butt of all the jokes. Things are in fashion, then they go out for while, then they make a comeback - it's the usual cycle, and the 80s are probably the next up.
I think music has been linking back to the 80s for quite a while - you can certainly see where synth pop band like Chvrches get their inspiration from. I also think a lot of indie music has a whiff of the 80s about it.
The fashion is a more difficult ask, although things tend to go from one extreme to another. The whole beard thing is a great example - I don't think many blokes of my generation (now in 40s/50s) had beards (other than goatees, which were a bit of a 90s thing iirc), as it was what our parents (grandparents?) had, and the last thing you want to do is look lovely he your parents. I'm waiting for moustaches to come back next, maybe combined with big-hair.

How I would love GTA VI in 80's Vice City bringing all this culture back to enjoy :-)
L.A. Takedown (the band, not the movie) are the mutt's:
