    Unreserved Apology

A few days ago I offered to fit a customer supplied Rolex 16600 glass.

Upon receipt I discovered that these glasses can only be fitted by Rolex themselves.

    I informed the customer.

After a long working day I overreacted to his response.

My initial reply was less than polite and in the heat of the moment I asked him to pay return postage for his watch.

This was wrong and totally unprofessional.

    I apologise humbly and unreservedly.

The postal monies have been donated to Eddie's Charity.

I should like to thank my many loyal customers for their input and support.

    Sincerely,

    Brendan.

None of us are perfect Brendan, we all have bad days and we all make mistakes. The important bit is to regognise and apologise and all credit to you for that.

Nice gesture re the postage costs. Your service is second to none and I'm sure the customer will respect your response.

We all have the occasional wobble, it's how you handle it afterwards

    All credit to you...

They can be fitted by any watchmaker that has the tools and training, so what was missing?

Nope ! This glass cannot be fitted by Rolex accredited repairers.
    Rolex won't supply the tools.
Has to go back to Rolex.

Ok must be a UK thing, Ive fitted several. Different from normal professional cases but nothing special really? I guess they won't supply gaskets to you either? It's a shame tbh.

    Where are you based ?
I got the glass and gasket but looked like the gasket is sandwiched inside the case. Rolex won't supply the correct removal tool here in the UK anyway.
    Even to accredited repairers.
I spent some considerable time finding out !!

    Unreserved Apology

What a great thread started by a true gentleman and ambassador for the forum.

I have not had work done by Brendan yet, but based on this I would have absolutely no hesitation.

My mistake - I thought Malcolm was his name!

    More care needed next time!

    I'll correct the post!

I would recommend him 100%. He's looked after a few of my watches and they always come back perfect.

    I'll second that.
Brendan has always been a perfect gent to me and has done some sterling work on two vintage omegas and a vintage rolex.

I too have just had a watch back from Brendan and the service has been faultless...even checking in with me this morning to make sure everything was as it should be. A true gentleman, as this thread demonstrates.

true gent to have the guts to say he was sorry about what happened :)

ive heard really good things about all his work he has done for others.
was very prompt and courteous when I asked for a service info for a pals breitbling , sorry I mean breitling :-)

problem with the internet is reputations take yrs to be made and seconds to be destroyed sadly .

I too have had several watches serviced by Brendan, can't recommend him highly enough.
Like others have said a true gent.

I've already posted here but I want to add something else. Brendan had my vintage Seiko in for repair and offered to make a small modification - it was a suggestion to fit a slightly larger crown for ease of use - and I refused to keep the watch original. In hindsight I should have taken his advice.

My point is that he didn't have to make that suggestion but his commitment to quality and the best outcome for the owner shone through.
