    English wines - any recommendations?

it's about time I tried a few of these although none seem inexpensive. Waitrose stock a number online but their supermarkets only seem to stock a couple citing lack of demand although I'm told they can stack up well against the competition. Any suggestions? Are they worth the premium price?

Three Choirs have some nice whites.
Steer clear of the reds though.

If you like champagne style wines then Nyetimber Classic Cuvee is very good. It's not cheap but IMHO better than the cheapest champagnes.

    EFA.

Nyetimber often wins blind taste tests against the best that the Champagne region can produce.

Thirded. Gusbourne is my favourite English fizz.
Whereabouts are you then? I grew up in Stone (in-Oxney) so know the area well.

The London Cru wines are excellent and they now do a Bacchus made with uk grapes but not tried it myself (a mate of mine is the winemaker)

Coincidentally, Nyetimber is currently 25% off at Waitrose (bringing the price down to £26 per bottle).

If you buy 6 bottles, you get a further 5% discount.
