    Urban Exploration thread 2017

Kicking off the season with an abandoned train, and a one-time departure from my usual editing style :D

I still love this stuff. Funnily enough I was just about to search for it after realising it's been a while since I last saw some.

Not so sure about the 'abandoned', it looks in better condition than the ones currently running in the South West.

Really do like the colour in the first image ;-)

It would be nice to see something that idiots haven't got their dirty thug hands on first. Just look at the damage caused to that interior. So sad.

Those are excellent. I especially like the first and last images. The colour is in the first is great.

The body of a young man was found in the abandoned Hallam Hotel in Sheffield this week, cause of death appears to be a fall. It occurred to me that he might have been doing a bit of urban exploration.

As an events photographer, i wish i had the time to do some random urban exploration and photography. Best I can manage is the odd shipwreck!

I have to say it's good to be out again post hibernation. Will hopefully have a couple more places done soonish.

Eddie I fell halfway through a floor once, saved by a joist to the groin. Bloody easily done if you're not concentrating particularly in some of the more rotten places. I've been very careful since then.

    Gaviscon Farm.

Quite a sad one this. I went with a couple of friends to clean the place up a little. Found records for the owner going back to 1957. From what we could piece together his wife died and he remained on the farm for a while drinking insane amounts of fizzy drinks, whisky and gaviscon before dying in 2008. Everything is still there. His washing is even hanging on the line in a barn.
More photos to follow once I've edited.

    Very powerful stuff, well captured and processed. Probably the most moving viewing of this genre that I have seen. {i haven't led a sheltered life either!}
    Any photographs from the barn?

Thanks for posting these, a great insight to a life.
Have you tried a tighter crop of "Barn". Maybe lose left third to drainage channel and above bright rafter. Alternatively brighten the clothing. I like the perspective of the image but want to be able to see the clothes on the line a little more.
Regardless, a great set, the images with subdued colours certainly help with the atmosphere.

I can't believe I hadn't seen any of these threads before. Some very poignant images, and beautifully executed. Do you have a website of this stuff somewhere?

Only a short clip, but I think it demonstrates that the talking head format can be used to carry this kind of subject matter quite nicely.
