    Panerai Due 674 vs 392

I liked the 392 when I got it .. 42mm seemed a better size, but having tried on larger models .. decided to something bigger and just picked up the 45mm Panerai Due.

The Due range has 2 models - 676 42 mm manual, 674 45mm auto. The new movement on these models is much thinner (3.95 mm ) than other models.
    See more here: http://www.panerai.com/en/collection...minor-due.html
Purists might and could say the size of the case is part of the Panerai Due ... but then again a little change can be a good thing ..
Both models have a sunburst dial - although I would say the affect is modest compared to others I've seen or had.

I really like the fact that they are 3 handers with no date - I much prefer this layout.

Anyway, here are a couple of comparison shots ...

392 on left 674 on right

I'm trying out the 42mm Due this week. For a 6.75 wrist I think itll be the perfect compromise. I'd like the auto but pretty sure 45mm will look like a dinner plate on me.

Great write up and pics. I went to London last week to check out the 45mm due but was out of luck.

Does the 45mm due use 24mm straps? I've had a few luminors in the past and being able to keep using those straps is a big plus for me.

Does it have spring bars or lug screws? I heard some panerai now come with spring bars.

I would think the 45mm due would wear similarly to 44mm luminor.

There are a couple of things I would change if I could with the Due ...
Yes - it uses 24,, straps
No - it doesn't have the quick change strap system the 392 has - it has spring bars ... #PITA

Yes I've read this comment a few times ... I'm no expert so happy to understand more reasons ... but I can only assume the thin case / saphire are obviously the restricting factors.

Thankfully my desk is usually at least a few metres above sea level so I should be OK.
