Watch stories don't come much cooler than this! One of the nicest Bremont's I've seen too. Well done :-)
Although I've never really been a major fan of Bremont, having spent 17 years of a 27 year career working with Martin Baker seats on various Tornado squadrons, I thought it was only fitting that I should reward myself with one of these:
This is a special edition only for sale to operators and direct support personnel of the mighty Tonka. Mine will be coming with a yellow barrel (as befits a squadron armourer) and a bracelet. Here's a few more pics and info:
Bremont stuff:
"The new Bremont Tornado Interdictor/Strike (IDS) watch project is a unique and bespoke set of two watches available to operators and direct support personnel of the UK’s GR1/4 aircraft since its first flight in 1980. The first model is based on the MBIII timepiece, the second smaller model is based on the Solo37 timepiece. Both designs feature ‘GR1’ at 1 o’clock, ‘GR4’ at 4 o’clock, the aircraft silhouette with full GR roll equipment and wings swept to 67 degrees at 6 o’clock along with the date ‘1982-2019’ to mark the period of front line service. Featured at 9 o’clock is the Tornado Force logo. On the reverse of the MBIII timepiece, a custom rotor featuring ‘TORNADO’ can be seen through the open exhibition case back.".
I can't wait and should be receiving it some point later this year. Happy days!

Cracking memento of your working life.
Nice looking watch too :-)
Congratulations and very nice indeed. I am quite envious.
wow - very very nice, and well earned too. congratulations.
I've got my name down for one too. Hope the wait isn't as long as they intimated.
No, my mate is not interested in watches.
I think they are offered as an option for long service awards and some are taken up as an option........
As far as I know, they also present them to pilots who have ejected............
The yellow will look great on that. Here's one of the earliest yellow-barrelled MBs (an MB1.5 belonging to a friend)
Tastefully executed - I do like that.
Breitling used to own this market but Bremont are making it their own it seems
Nice. The firm I work for makes small cast Aluminium components for the seats, a close enough link I think......
That's one of the nicest Bremont military tie-ins I've seen (although nothing will beat the CH-47 with the rotor subdials!). Interesting it's the MBIII that's been chosen rather than the II that's normally selected. Yellow barrel should pop nicely - is it the same as the yellow they used on the Selfridges edition I wonder?

Much envy.
Very nice.
When you look long into an abyss, the abyss looks long into you.........
Lovely watch and well earned. Much fun was had with 9 and 14 over the years. Enjoy.

Loving your IDS version. Today i noticed banks & lyon in lancaster had the white faced MBIII gmt in and liked it a lot
Popular project and a lot of people now with lighter wallets this week. It'll be a long wait!
If anyone would like a direct contact at Bremont re: Military project Bremont's let me know by PM.

From why knowledge, there is no prefered base model. The reason why we see the MB/U2/alts used the most, is that they have been around the longest.

As one armorer to an other armorer, nice one!
Does it leak as much oil or hydraulic fluid as the real one?
Was lucky enough to be shown around the HQ today and spend an hour with Nick. Hard to imagine a more enthusiastic person, and the rationale behind the brand, its military relationships and its horological aspiration and vision now all make sense. If I have time I'll write up a quick summary on a separate thread.
I heard a great story from one of my search and rescue (SAR) instructors that he went to a Bremont, Seaking edition, presentation where he met a guy who ejected from a jet into the water off the east coast of Scotland and he was the winch man that rescued him. It was the first time they'd seen each other since the job and needless to say one ordered the MB1 and the other the Seaking edition Bremont.
(Sorry for stealing your thread by the way, just thought it's a nice story to tell on this forum)
I love the GR font at the 1 and 4 positions. I'm old and flew the GR1 only and may look into getting one of these. Congratulations on yours.
