    Day sack recommendations please

My first Karrimor, purchased in the late 90s, was brilliant and lasted well. My second, purchased about 5 years has not, thanks Mike!

I'd therefore appreciate recommendations for an alternative circa 25 litre bag. Bonus marks if, ha, it is made in the UK.

It gets used for various purposes: walking days, general days out and as a cabin bag on those odd occasions I fly though I'm beginning to think it would be better to get something different for the latter task. It must be waterproof and have somewhere to put, ideally, a 1 litre water bottle.

    Thanks

    Day sack recommendations please

I'm using a Musto bag at the moment.
    Good size. Comfortable to carry.
Side pockets for drink bottle and flask. Couple of zipped pockets on the front and the lid good spectacles etc

Waterproof and looks good without being too "tactical" or at the other end of the scale too satchel like.

Musto as you may know is a brand based in England. The brand was established in 1965 by Keith Musto, a British Olympic sailor and engineer.

I've been using a Deuter bag for the last couple of years and it is excellent.

I had a Karrimor bag before that and agree the recent ones are rubbish.

Check out Sports Pursuit web site. They are doing a further 20% off their clearance section - and there are a good few day sacks in there.

    good luck!

Just checked - the CODE for the extra 20% is XT20

+1 for everything In the Musto catalog. It's the company that provides clothing to people sailing the Southern Ocean on the Volvo Ocean Race yachts

Speaking of which: anyone knows the bag Tony Robinson carries in Coast to coast?

Overboard do great day sacks and there are 100% waterproof (can be immersed underwater) and they tend to have sales.

I've never gone wrong with a Dakine bag. They last for ages and used mine in all sorts of scenarios. They make so many models that there has to be one (or a couple) that fit the requirements

Might not be the best quality but Trespass were having a closing down sale and there were some massive discounts to be had. Might be good to get by for a while to allow you to look for the one?

Also try Mountain Warehouse - some of their stuff is actually quite good.

I've got one of those (in blue) that I've been using as a work bag for 18 months and I'm very happy with it.

    +1 For Overboard.
Not one of their dry bags but I got my daughter a holdall of theirs at the Boat Show. The holdall was as good as my sons North Face in terms of quality.

    These have recommended also:

I've just ordered the Osprey Talon after reading excellent reviews. Bought the 18ltr version as I have a bigger Lowe Alpine Airzone (which is great) for when the family is with me on the fells.

I've been using a Deuter with the mesh aircomfort system for over seven years and I don't think I could go back to a normal flat backpack. No sweaty back even in the height of summer with a full bag

I have one of these, which is really solidly made.

The only downside is the lack of drink bottle / umbrella pouches externally.

I have one of these (and a 24 which is the same just bigger), they're very well made. The 12 is going up on SC when I can get round to taking some photos of it!

+1 for Dakine. I've had a 26l which I ram solid with gym gear, use it almost daily and had it five years. It's indestructible and stylish too. Superb back packs.

I use an Alpkit Gourdon, cheap and very hardwearing. Comes in three sizes, but on the 20l comes with pockets.
