    Quality Springbars - recommendations

I was searching for 20mm omega springbars and this old thread was part of the search results.

    http://forum.tz-uk.com/showthread.ph...for-springbars!

I obviously don't want to pay the prices mentioned (never mind the fact the thread is from 2012)

I was going to order the Cousins ones but would appreciate advice on any other suppliers.

Cheap watches and garbage bracelets are 2 of the hallmarks of Vostok watches. Strangely though, the springbars are excellent quality and I use them in pretty much all my watches. Might take a while to arrive from Russian though... https://meranom.com/en/amphibian-cla...bars-20mm.html

Seller twente(o) on eBay has a wide range, well priced and despite coming from Australia they arrive promptly.

Having looked at the old thread all I can say is...
£35 for spring bars from Omega is BOLLOCKS ! that shop should be ashamed of themselves. OEM Omega bars cost about £1 each

I got Omega springbars from Cousins for my Speedmaster and although they were not cheap, they are much higher quality than any other springbar I have bought from e bay etc

Code is X8543TT, description is 068ST2208 Omega ‘Moonwatch’ (New Model) Spring Bar

    I think they were £15 for 2.

I have similar problem with getting the correct spring bars for Explorer 14270 bracelet. Seems to be several options, so might try Cousins.

I'm not sure how different the ones in the range Omega supply are. I had a Moonwatch and the shoulder for a spring bar had bent, so on taking it to a store in London they replaces the spring bars and refitted the bracelet. I know they replaced the spring bars as they gave me the damaged ones back too.

Of course I later removed them for a strap, and they didn't look especially different to me.

Those are not Original Rolex, but they would probably do the job,
R19202 is closer to the ones that Rolex would use

Are these good-enough substitute to the original Omega ones?

I have used cousins bars for years and never had any major issues, so they will probably be fine.
My personal preference on watches like Rolex and Omega however is always to use the original bars, it is probably just me but I don't see a saving of £5 a pair as enough to justify fitting aftermarket parts to a watch worth £1000s. One of the advantages of my local AD is that they treat small things like spring bars as part of the aftersale service and usualy don't charge me anyway.

If you are not too far from Southampton?, the service centre there will look after you for spring bars

I don`t see any problems with Cousins springbars regarding quality, I use them all the time. However, it's worth measuring all the dimensions with your trusty digital caliper. That includes the diameter of the part that fits in the case. Provided you're happy that the dimensions match up they'll be fine. Cousins springbars are cheap enough

My advice to anyone who messes with straps etc to get a decent springbar tool, an eyeglass/magnifier, and a decent digital caliper. A cheap case clamp is a good idea too, it's far easier working if the head of the watch is clamped.

A few £££ spent on these tools is money well spent, it makes far more sense than spending a lot on the straps then fumbling about trying to swap them.

Paul - what are the differences between those tools? What makes one better than the other? As I never had any dealings with them, they all look the same to my untrained eyes :-/

The Bergeon spring bar tool has replacable ends and is small enough to get in where you need it to. I wouldn't say the quality is brilliant, I managed to break the forked end on mine and had to buy a replacement.
